The Eagles invested everything in their D Line and it dominates, but they are screwed with any decent TE on an opposing team due to their crappy LB's and Safety situation. Their special teams are horrible.

I think for me the Niners for now are on top... and us and eGals are tied for that #2 spot until we beat them or they start losing games, which could be very soon due to a bunch of injuries they sustained. Just saw Bradberry has a concussion and wont play this week..., Cousins is due in prime time... so after we are 2-0 I would bump us to that second spot alone.

While the Cowboys looked pretty good yesterday, at least on Defense, the Offense is still TBD due to not having to do too much, I'm still holding any reservations about expectations due to watching the 49ers dismantle the Steelers. They still demonstrate the physicality that has caused major problems for the Cowboys. They are the most balanced and physical team in the Conference if not the NFL. We didn't get to see much of the Cowboys Offense last night to get a good read on their status. We should get a better read in the coming weeks leading up to the Week 5 matchup at the 49ers.
I was also extremely impressed with the 49ers. See my post over in NFL Zone. They're very well designed and organized. That 65-yard TD run by McCaffrey was the best example of teamwork I've seen in ages. Their O-line opened up a big hole, and he ran through. I figured it would be a good gain, and maybe a first down. However, he juked away from one defender and then a teammate opened up the field for him with a great block. He ran all the way down the field, but the Steelers player was in position to stop the TD, but another 49er player made yet another great block to spring him for the TD. The 49ers have a great defense, a quality O-line, and running game. Brock Purdy does need to play well (which he did), but he doesn't have to do everything himself. This team is smartly designed. They didn't put everything on their quarterback's shoulders and become pass happy. I personally think that the league's pass-happy trend will eventually fade, as defenses get better at defending it, and game plans become adept at containing that one-dimensional approach. IMO, the 49ers are the anti-pass-happy team, and they have a good shot at the title this year.
...
It does make me sick to admit it, but the Eagles are still looking good enough to make a run.
...
The other impressive team was a huge surprise to me, the Detroit Lions. They went into Arrowhead and beat the Chiefs. It didn't look like a fluke to me. It looks like they've built an outstanding team. Jared Goff finally looks like a first overall draft pick. He reads defenses well, and his passes are accurate. Granted, that was just one game. Some teams start seasons off with a bang and then fizzle. However, the Lions look like they've got their act together. I would not be shocked to see them sustain their high-level of play and then win their division. They've been terrible for ages, but they may have finally turned the corner.
...
Could our Cowboys beat the above-mentioned teams? I think so. We've got an insanely good defense. With a good game plan, we'll see. Beating any of these teams I've mentioned would be a major accomplishment. These teams have their act together.

I'm fine with Dallas at #3 in the NFC until we beat SF and the Eagles in a meaningful game. I'd rather this team still be chasing and grow a huge chip on their shoulder rather than be crowned.

First offensive game this Dallas team has played with their starters - minus Tyler Smith - through all of the off season. Joe Burrows looked terrible yesterday, and as I have been told he is greatness. He also sat out the entire off season while getting a raise.

Each season, during each game something is revealed about the team. Dallas looked great last night. They have a tough game coming up. Spit the bit and all this glee this board is experiencing will change to what they see on the Giants board. Even if it is a last minute field goal to lose.

I am looking for Dallas to build on this new Gulf Coast Offense© and to find balance with the defense and special teams. And to stay healthy.

But I will say, the Eagles didn't look like world beaters against the Patriots. Not too much can be gleaned off the first game of the year, but that result against what I think is a team (Patriots) not much better than the Giants, makes me think this year could be special for Dallas.

I am looking forward to Purdy standing in the pocket with the front four of Dallas bending him over all game and see what they truly have.
I think we need to see more of the Eagles (and we will) to get a better idea of how good they are. That Eagles/Patriots game was played in a torrential downpour, which definitely affected things. I despise the Eagles. IMO, in a perfect world, the Eagles would be 0 and 17 every year, and Eagles fans would admit that they were coughed up into the world from the depths of Hades as the NFL's most despicable trash. However, I'm not writing this team off just because the Patriots nearly came back to win that game. The Patriots aren't garbage; plus, that game was affected by pouring rain.

Top 4 in the NFC
1) Philly
2) San Fran
3) Dallas
4) Detroit

I need to see more of this, against a good team.… But I’m starting to feel a tinge of excitement.

They also just lost linebacker N. Dean to the injured list.

I’m going to enjoy the win…because all this talk of who the best is of the 3 is quite irrelevant after only 1 game…we all no winning a super bowl you need your fair share of luck…a couple injuries here or there changes things...

Disagree.

We are much, MUCH better than the Eagles. Their defense is in shambles and the offense isn't quite as good as it was last year with some of the loses they had in FA.
Time will tell and I sure hope you’re right. But let’s not overreact after week one.

For those busting on the offense, it was raining and MM said they took a lot of stuff out because of it. I thought the running game looked more physical and better blocked than last year, and had the TE's not had a major case of the drops, nobody would be talking about needing to see more from the passing game. They cost 50-75 yards and two TDs at minimum, it should have been close to a 50 burger.

Cowboys' effort on D was impressive, no doubt. That being said, we need to see this offense improve.
Hard to judge an offense playing on the road in monsoon type conditions. And in a game where it was clear they could coast to a win and wasn't going to be that aggressive. By the 2nd half, they were playing just to burn clock and get out the stadium without any injuries. Offense would have looked a lot better had they not had 2 easy drops that would have been 2 more TD's instead of 2 FG's.

It's also kind of hard on the other end our defense who played an offense in those conditions. Both offenses looked pretty sloppy, theirs much more. That might be the only game we play in those conditions. Aikman has said many times those conditions were terrible for his game and he hated it. I want to see this defense in normal conditions against QBs who aren't Daniel Jones, who is a dorky QB who has zero idea how to beat Dallas.

Cowboys offense hasn't seen the light of day in a real game for 9 months. On the road, against a good defense, in the rain. I'm not worried yet.

Are we really worried about who we think is at the top of the NFC one week into a very long season?

Here's the thing with Philly. The giants were kicking our *** on defense before the blocked kicked. If that's hurts and the Philly offense they score on that opening possession and then who knows what happens.
They had a 38 yd drive and a 15 yd PF penalty. No one's butt was getting kicked. Overreaction.
