I wouldn’t be getting too carried away after just one game. We have a long way to go to figure out exactly how good this defense is. The Giants started the game last night by gashing us on the ground, until we tightened up. I’m not going to anoint the defense until we get to at least November/Dec. I want to see if we can maintain a steady level of play and not drop off. I want to see if Parsons can play a full season without wearing down.
I know you try your hardest to never let yourself get high on the cowboys but you need to stop this nonsense. They just held a playoff team (that got improved weapons) from last year to a goose egg. The same team you said this would be a close game against. If you need to see it for 4 months then have at it.

While the Cowboys looked pretty good yesterday, at least on Defense, the Offense is still TBD due to not having to do too much, I'm still holding any reservations about expectations due to watching the 49ers dismantle the Steelers. They still demonstrate the physicality that has caused major problems for the Cowboys. They are the most balanced and physical team in the Conference if not the NFL. We didn't get to see much of the Cowboys Offense last night to get a good read on their status. We should get a better read in the coming weeks leading up to the Week 5 matchup at the 49ers.
I understand what you are saying, but last year in the Playoffs it was pretty close - and the Cowboys had to play the whole 2nd half without Pollard. I don't believe they are that much better than the Cowboys. The Cowboys team this year is better than lasts, and they played right with them last year.

I’m not about to go overboard after a season opener when we still got 16 games to go. The Giants were gashing us on the ground until they bogged down and we blocked the FG and returned it for a TD. That completely knocked the wind right out of them. The Cowboys played a real good game, but they had every single break go their way and their offense still needs a lot of work. The Cowboys had two huge blowouts within three weeks last season over Minnesota 40-3 and Indianapolis 54-19, then proceeded to struggle against the Texans and lose to Jacksonville the following week after blowing a 17 point lead. Two weeks later in the season finale they were embarrassed by a bad Washington team with a rookie QB making their first NFL start. If you want to start popping the champagne and anointing the team after a season opening win in September go ahead. It doesn’t matter how good a team they currently have, it’s going to come down to how they’re playing in December and January. If they begin the flame out by then it’s going to end up being the same frustrating story. The NFL season is a marathon. The teams that go far in the playoffs and end up in the Super Bowl improve as the season goes on.

You are on some good liquor if you think some teams are putting 35 points up on this years defense. Btw our offense put up 27 points
Oh, it’s coming. Best get yourself ready. Like Jimmy two times, it will be more than once. Don’t forget your excuses on pay day.

As much as I hate to say it, the Eagles are there too.

Sure was hoping they would’ve lost though.
They looked horrible yesterday. A lot of the points came with the help of bad QB play
I give the NFC edge to the Eagles with Dallas and SF neck and neck.
I can agree with this. Although it's not so much regular season, it's the playoffs when it comes to beating San Francisco.

Philly doesn't look good at all. With a pick 6 and 2 fumbles the first few minutes of the game should have put it away..... Like last season.

Mac was driving NE right down the field to win it, and I think would have, but receiver didn't get his second foot down with half a minute to go
Our defense can handle the offense of the eagles.

I have no issue with SF being publicly perceived as the better team, until decisively dispatched.

As for some here who don't believe that teams can put up large point numbers on this defense: Look at what happened last year when LVE went out. People like to rag on him, but the team stats don't lie.

Why are we not for real for smacking a Giants team 40-0 even if they are bad, and the 49ers are the cream of the crop for smacking the Steelers, who are probably just as bad as the Giants?

No one here is saying there will not be challenging games over the course of the season. No team in the NFC is going undefeated. The Giants are a top half of the conference team. They face the Cardinals this Sunday. D. Jones will think he died and went to heaven compared to this past weekend. If you can’t be happy with the Cowboys’ efforts at MetLife Sunday night than you’re never going to be happy with the Cowboys. Philly, SF, Detroit, New Orleans…NYG, there are a lot of battles ahead. At least allow the Dallas Cowboys got off to a significant start. They are playing well. Real well. I say they beat the Jets 27-6.

Everyone here knows we’re going to have challenging games ahead, but some fans are already booking their Super Bowl tickets. That’s going overboard! Someone posted we’re going 17-0. Maybe they were joking and maybe they were being serious. They sounded pretty serious to me.

Too early to tell. I usually wait about 6 games to get a way better feel. People said the eagles should've lost to the pats and were lucky to win.

We started off 3-0 in 2019 and then I think we lost 4 straight? And that season, the wheels went off and we never recovered.

But the first sign of a good team is they consistently beat the teams they are better than on paper. These next 2 games really need to be wins. No excuse to lose them. I am iffy on the Patriots game. It's at least at home. But they are definitely no pushover and I think Mac Jones can be efficient enough to move the Pats offense. He can be inconsistent so no telling which version you get that day. But he looked pretty good against the Eagles, a defense many consider to be top of the league.

We won't know about 9ers, Eagles or us for a few weeks. Week 1 is chaos and unpredictable. So many teams starters never touched the field in preseason...and need a week or 2 to get in game readiness. Plus it was bad weather in so many games.

Cincy is a great example. Does anyone REALLY put too much stock in their aweek 1 loss? Don't. We had a great week....but the Giants simply unraveled quick and didn't function like a real NFL team. Philly last year also looked bad Week 1 and barely eeked out a win over the Lions....then went on the following week to look all world, and won like 9 or 10 games straight.

Smart fans, whether it's Chief fans, Bill's, EAGLES, 9ers, or Cowboys will not get too crazy happy or dejected after 1 week.... and will evaluate over the course of a month....not 3 hours.

You could argue that Detroit was the most impressive NFC Team week 1.

They beat the defending champs....and the best QB in the league.

Philly looked off....we played a slightly above average team that completely unraveled after a fluke blocked FG, and SanFran played a team far less imposing than the Chiefs.

Just saying.....Detroit might need to join the conversation if they get to 3-0.

Huge fan of the defensive side of the game and its so nice to see again after a very long drought of medicore to down right poor defense bar a year here and there. I'm all for player safety but miss the good ol days.

Really wish we had this type of defense when Romo was playing.

It's fun to speculate, but it's too early to get an accurate read on teams.
Give it 5 games...
.
However, I think its easier to see which teams are the bottom 5 or 6.

Understood. But, the Cowboys posted a most convincing win, on the road, against a playoff team from last year. I’m sure Daboll has suggested to his team that now that they’re done patting themselves on the back for winning a playoff game last season it’s time to deal with this season. SF looks extraordinary, even Philly’s bizarre coach has figured out Hurts needs to stop running all over hell’s creation, Detroit, who Philly does not have to play, is actually starting to believe, Carr is playing for the Saints and his brother. No way any QB wants a Super Bowl more than he does. Right now, however, the Niners and Purdy notwithstanding, the Cowboys delivered. 17-0 is ridiculous, but it’s even more ridiculous for 15 other teams.

49ers, eagles, and eagles are the games which will tell us if we are ready for a SB.
