If he is playing poorly, no one will trade for him. If he is playing well, we would be stupid to let him go. And he always has the option to sit out again.

He's having trouble defending his position because:

1. It was a poorly thought out premise to begin with
2. It is not his own contention

you have to admit this thread is dumb

It was a dumb thread. You should never take what Mickey says at first glance, but these guys have been trolling me for quite sometime, while bumping my threads that they say they don't like.

One I agreed with Mickey. Two, I still agree that he has set himself up for an easy cut with the way he negotiated a small term bump rather than more long term guaranteed money.

The only thing that I now think Mickey was wrong about was that the money was converted.

That's the point. We extended him again, but the back end of his deal doesn't have any guarantees to it. It also doesn't have much dead money, making it easy to move on from him.

So to answer your question after 2016.

They added around 5m in new dead money according to reports.

He will have 6-8m in dead money next year depending on the guaranteed money.

No one got screwed here. OScan got more money and we still have a bargain at CB for up 5 years.

No, he is a player that I would suggest getting value for, something the Cowboys have struggled with for years.

That was the crux of his (and by proxy, your) argument.

It wasn't, that's just all you took from it. Too quick to judge rather than to read or listen.

He is still easily cut after 2016 despite his extension, which kind of flies in the face of getting an extension.

But now he has 3 years post 2016 that have no guarantees rather than just 2, and what is worse is that the base salaries are so low for at least two of those years.

I keep hearing people say this, but Scandrick isn't a particularly great corner. Relative to Carr's underperforming play and Claiborne's.... sure... maybe... but he isn't a top corner in this league, and certainly not a true #1 corner.

Here's a hint for you: he's not being paid like another #1 corner either. Weird.

He had 4 years without guarantees before he signed this new deal, including this year.

Scandick's new contract is very simple. He got a free 5 million dollars.

The Cowboys decided to "negotiate with terrorists." In my opinion it sets a bad precedent. When Scandic signed his contract he wasn't that good. He could have completely flopped and it would have been a bad contract for the Cowboys...or he could outperform it aND the cowboys could get a good deal. That's the reasons teams sign those contracts, they're taking the risk. If players just hold out later and get the money any way it doesn't make sense to make those kind of contracts. You either bust or the player gets what they're worth by holding out anyway.

Oscandalous is our best corner currently wearing a Cowboys jersey. He has persevered through the Mike Jenkins, Mo Claiborne, (insert name here) replacement challenges and is still rolling strong. Respect his heart. We need more Scandricks in that secondary.

Matt Johnson was a 4th round draft pick. I was high on what I thought he could give us at the position, but I think you drawing a comparison to someone who was a 4th round draft pick (who had some talent but couldn't stay healthy) versus a player who was ranked in the top 10 of the draft before these problems came out. Not to mention another corner who went in the first round, and one of the highest pass rushers in the 2014 draft.

Again as it relates to Hardy, he wasn't injured nor did he spend a year in prison. His time off isnt the same as anyone else's time off.

McClain and Lee are hands down better than Scandrick. Won't even listen to a debate otherwise.

I guessed it right then. Look, I have no problem being high on a player. I hope that Jones turns into Sherman, and Gregory turns into D-ware or Watt. But it's very typical for us Cowboys fans to get too high on players before they prove anything at all. I blame that mentality on two decades of mediocrity. I want proven guys. And as much as you dislike OS, he's been the only player on our defense that could start on contending teams. Again, I'm a Lee fanatic, but if he doesn't play 14-16 games this year, I'm done with him. Especially If he go's down in crunch time. RoMac did the same crap last year. He disappeared when we needed him most. I'd rather take a dependable player with less talent into battle than a great one who can't be counted on to be there when needed most.

We will need another cb next year. But scan is not going anywhere
We will need to replace either mo or Carr
And hopefully jones is the guy to replace one of them
I don't see mo getting a second contract and Carr I think is in his last year
Plus you can't have too much depth at cb

And when the cowboys get finished rebuilding their secondary he will be more expendable than he is now.

You confuse the heck out of me.

You build up strawmen and vigorously defend them from attack, but then you circle around and argue the other side.

I am now officially lost. Thanks.
