Conditional sixth round pick is the word form NFLN.

Very funny.

From the way the story's being reported, they managed to trade him with minimal, if any, cap hit.

He apparantly deferred his $5 mill roster bonus, and now the Bears are picking it up.

I'd love it if a cap guru like Adam could explain this????

No way the Stinks should be able to get off scot-free on a debacle like this!

I could be wrong, but his contract said he was due $5 mil on an earlier day but was deferred to wednesday. The skins could opt-out of that, but more of his contract would become guaranteed later on. But we traded him away to chicago, who took the roster bonus on but signed him to a new contract.

And they still had to eat that bonus. :laugh1:
No, they didn't. The Bears took over the bonus, and included it in their deal with AA. It seems a pretty good deal for both sides. Lovie wanted AA, and the Commanders were not able to cut him, unless he pulled a Lavar. Somehow the Commanders got away with making the dumbest FA move in recent history.

Chicago will be able to utilize AA skills, but dont think he will be a pro bowler now, contrary to what many frustrated Commanders fans would have you believe.

Also, when you read about contracts and their "record numbers", its usually not what you think.

I missed the whole speculation sequence. I only caught the tail end.

Da Bears' are in the market for safties that can't cover!

Wonder what they would give us for Roy?

We didn't take a caphit and got rid of his ginormous contract.

Again, the Skins front office might not be the smartest at making signings but they are genious when it comes to cap manipulation.

We didn't completely wash our hands of the contract, but we got rid of 50% of the dead cap hit (down from $9.4mil to $4.4mil)

its really working out for ya too huh:laugh2:

Its all a big joke, the cap is nica and all, but its worthless at this point, it will go up again by 9 mil. and no one will be in danger...The cap is way over rated.

It gets worse, Omar Stoutmire was just picked up... You know, the Omar Stoutmire who was SO good, the suffocating Saints' secondary let him go... Ugh, what did I do wrong to deserve this?

Amazing

One of the worst signings ever and somehow the Commanders FO gets a pick and no significant cap hit

Incredible. He should have never been signed in the first place

He'll do just fine in Chi-town and the 6th rounder will be cut at the end of training camp. But to get anything more then a bag of footballs and very little cap hit is incredible

you got a conditional 6th rounder. So dont count on the 6th yet because we dont know the conditions and archuletta has a knack for getting hurt.

To be honest, I could care less about the 6th rounder. With our drafting ability, that is camp fodder only

The big thing is we get rid of a guy who was useless in DC without any significant cap damage. No 5 million dollar hit or whatever

That is the part I care about. I could care less if we got a conditional 18th round pick in 2020

:lmao2:

I love it. It's hilarious when the Commanders dump a previous "highest paid" safety for almost nothing - and it's considered a real good thing.

That's gotta be embarassing. Seriously, if they don't value 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks, what the hell do they plan on doing with a 6th?

AA will do much better with the bears than he did with the deadskins. Lovie Smith knows how to use him and he wont do the mistake the Skins did by trying to have him cover receivers deep (like we also sadly are forced to do with Roy)

Excellent move, we were able to (somehow) defer his 5mil SB to Chicago.

Not sure how that's possible, but I'll take it. What a ******** signing, a pure example of how the Skins mentality is sometimes completely wrong. We had a cheap overacheiver who, from reports, had a very good relationship with the rest of the defense and was very solid. So what do we do? Outbid the Bears for Arch Delux, offer him a 5mil SB and a 5mil RB, when we could've kept Clark for almost the NFL minimum.
