We're merely speculating, but what fun it is. Can't wait for the next preseason game. Garrett and Linehan are probably thinking the same thing most of us are.

What is that? If Romo throws for 4200 with 28 TDs and 8 picks, which is an average season for him, and the team makes the playoffs with 11 or 12 wins, what would you be thinking? Do we Demarcus Ware him to Denver?

Me too, hoping like hell he is the real deal

He better not flop, or there will be some serious suicide watches going on. Then again, they can blame Jerry for destroying him or something.

I am hoping he pans out, but absolutely sick about the prospect of what this place will be like after Romo has a bad game. It will be Steamin' Willie Beamen all over.

I'm glad Dak is looking great in pre-season and is giving optimism as a viable replacement for Romo. But, as most people know about the media, they'll turn on players in an instant if they falter, so I really don't give a crap what they say. They've done this for years with Romo. Dak's got a long way to go and a lot to prove. Any real GM knows this.

Ps. Pretty sure that 2009 draft would've been more productive had they just put a poll here on CZ for every pick.

Shhhhhh! That draft year should never be spoken of again. haha What a nightmare!

Hopefully Romo stays healthy, performs at a high level and Dak is able to learn from Romo and ease into the position over time without all the pressure.

Fantasy dream would be if Dak had a year two like Brady did and they trade Romo for a nice pick or two and clear out a **** load of cap space.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Two NFL sources today and Charlie Casserly yesterday all seem to be confirming that what we are seeing from Dak in these games is for real. It's interesting to hear these NFL evaluators stating that he has a real shot at being a high-end QB of the future.

Dak's performance in these first two games has been such an outlier for rookie QB performance. His level of play would be dominant for a franchise first overall pick QB, much less a player that was taken at the back end of the fourth round.
It does give you reason to think that once again the blind pig has found the acorn.

I'm as stoked as everyone. I said right after the draft that Prescott just seems different to me. But no matter what Dak does, I can't help but remember how preseason last year had Sam Bradford as league MVP, Chip Kelly a top-5 coaching genius and Philly in the Super Bowl. Just sayin'.

Do you understand how idiotic this comment is?

Give the same man who craved Quincy Carter and Johnny Manziel, yet we should "give him credit" for missing on a trade for Lynch and succeeding in securing Dak Prescott's rights?

Joe Fan off the street could have identified Lynch as a good prospect. He felt so strongly with his expert eye about him that he got cold feet and did not sweeten the trade to Seattle to get him.

And if you think stumbling upon Prescott when the strategy has long gone out of the draft process, I don't know what to tell you.

If Prescott is the next big thing, it was not skill, namely Jones having an "eye". It was like it was with Romo, a case of being extremely fortunate because someone else did the homework.

Facts are unlikely to go over very well around here in

Wouldn't that be nice!
Instead of burning two 1st round picks (and more), we may get Dak plus two future possible pro bowl defenders in the 1st round to help this team.
Time will tell.

Dak is better than Wentz

Wentz will be fine...........he just learned to slide in the NFL........will be some great QB's between them, but Dak will have a stacked deck. Iggles gutted their roster rebuild to move up for him.

& Lynch and Cook

What exactly did jeri do here?
Had restraint. Uh, maybe. lol or maybe they tackled him again.

Anyway, we don't know yet if both lynch and cook will be great. My guess is certainly not both and maybe neither, but we don't know.

Dude just looks better equipped than Goff and Wentz and any other QB before or after him mentally and physically. Dallas could be on the cusp of the best QB taken since I dunno when. Could we be that lucky? He literally fell into our laps after trying to reach for Lynch and Connor.

Maybe there is a football god after all.

The thing is... Rookies usually look awful in preseason.

Wentz and Goff are doing the normal rookie thing.

Winston looked worse than both of them and somehow he made the pro bowl.

Yup. It's much nicer having visual evidence that he could be the guy than the other way around.

You're absolutely right, but I feel like we go down into a rabbit's hole with this argument.

Emmitt wasn't Jimmy's top choice. The Patriots passed on Brady five times. Etc.

And conversely, we don't award credit to every quality player Jerry attempted to get but missed out on just because "well, he WANTED the right guy."

At the end of the day, you get who you get, and credit or blame will be assessed accordingly.

I think there's only one more hurdle for Dak Prescott to clear. Let's see how he responds when he has an awful game. I hate to say it, but it's coming. He is a rookie, after all. And when he bounces back from adversity, and I believe he will, then we can say quarterback won't be a problem here for another decade-plus.

I think mental toughness and makeup are the last things to be concerned about with Dak.

By the time this team has a defense Romo will have retired and Dak will be the fortunate one to get a Ring as we will still have our OL and finally a defense. That would kill Tony...
It is a shame that they waited until he had broken every bone before they re-addressed the oline.
And the D still has a ways to go.

But yes, Romo would be a little bummed as would any real competitor. But I'm sure his attitude would be "better late than never". He loves the Cowboys and by all accounts has really adopted Dak as his pupil. They genuinely like each other..as both are smart and students of the game.
So he could take a father's type pride, at least a little, if they win it all after he's retired.

But that's getting WAY ahead of ourselves.
