Schefter expecting Romo release, not trade

I have felt for a while the likelihood of Romo being granted his release to be able to negotiate with other teams. I think Cowboys will try to move Romo via trade but I think most teams understand the risk of giving up high picks for a QB with serious question in terms of health and age. Add to that they are not going to take on his contract. I think people want to view this from only one perspective and not look at the picture as a whole

If we DON'T trade him it just goes to show why it has been so hard for the organization as a whole to win in recent years. The club's priorities are out of whack.

Sorry Tass but not to correct you but we need to subtract the word years for decades. It just bring the your point that much clearer

nobody is giving you even a top ten pick for an aging often injured quarterback(he's 37)...and Jerry will want to let Romo go to a team to have a chance to compete for a Superbowl, Cleveland, Jets etc aren't those teams and they wouldn't want Romo anyway.
I would bet money that the jets would give us Richardson and swap first rounders with us for Romo. At the minimum a straight up swap. Which would kill 2 birds with one stone. But hey, what do i know.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I trust that JErry isn't that stupid.

I wouldn't hold my breath.

I am not sure intelligence is what is at work here. I think if Romo gets cut it's more that Jones simply cannot put a business decision before loyalty. He probably knows that working a trade benefits the Cowboys more. But he's also torn about being fair to Romo. I suspect his loyalty to Romo will win out.

Yup. Force him to retire. I don't care about Tony Romo

It was planted by Bruce Allen to get people off the idea that Washington is really a big fat dumpster fire right now.

I don't know why with that news as well as Jones' complete and utter denial, that people still think this fantasy trade will happen.

Then again, those people probably think that unicorns exist and there are pots of gold at the end of rainbows.
Hey ive seen a unicorn before. Mind you, it was my 21st birthday.

On sports center just now. Not surprising, but sooooooo disappointing that we cannot get something, anything, for Romo. SMH

Let's do right by Romo so he can go elsewhere.
Then, one day, Romo will play us and he will think, "Jerry did right by me, so I will go easy on him and the Cowboys who made me rich." Yes, right-o.
But at least Sir Jerry will have the satisfaction of doing right by Romo.
If the release news is accurate, it will be very true to say that Sir Jerry's heart is bigger than his brain.

That's still stupid and you could possibly trade him in a 3 team deal and possibly end up with the 2nd pick and other draft choices and possibly end up with Myles Garrett and Adoree Jackson in the first round. I pray to god that they don't do this.

You really think there is a plausible way we can get the #2 pick!?

Or Jerry is trying to make a market for Romo so there was a bidding war. Maybe Jerry didn't get the response he thought he'd get. So release him becomes the thought.
Maybe that line of thought is moronic. Every season we see a demand for QB created due to somebody's #1 QB getting hurt... It's going to happen. That is when the best market for Romo is created. Jerry doesn't have to do anything but sit back and wait for the highest bid to come to him... all with a little patience.

It's been that way his whole career here. 2 wild card wins is the best we got out of him. Paid him massive money which helped create holes everywhere. Now, we are going to have to cut him and get nothing for it. SMH.

This is the same Jets that are cutting everybody, you might want to rethink that strategy

That is not very Romo-friendly.

Releasing a franchise QB while numerous teams have interest is not very Dallas Cowboys friendly. Why does the team have to roll over for Romo? He is under contract and represents a valuable team asset. If he wants out, then there should be give and take on both sides. Get Romo a place he can play and get the team something in return. Why does Jerry have to capitulate to Romo to the detriment of the team? In my scenario, Romo gets to seek his new team. How is that not Romo friendly. He just has to convince a team to trade for him and if he can't, he has to sit tight and be a good Dallas Cowboy until a team is ready to deal. If Jerry stays patient, the market for Romo will materialize as teams want to get their QB in house as soon as possible.

If the report is true, you will know now more than Sir Jerry. But that's not how it should work in the NFL. To bad we are stuck in Sir Jerry's world.

You sure never make decisions when emotional especially business ones. Jones is to emotionally involved with Romo. Needs to step away and let his son handle this situation, imo.

Which is sad considering Jerrys grandson has won more championships at AT&T Stadium and Romo had to watch it. With Jerry
