So is NFI separate from PUP - or just a sub category.
Going to have to spend time during training camp and preseason getting caught up on the rules, so when the massive roster cutdown date happens I'm not confused on how the Cowboys entire roster (53 + PS + others) shakes out.
NFI and PUP have the same rules. PUP is for players already injured doing rehab from the previous season. Or injured during off season training type stuff.

NFI is for players such as draft picks that had issues coming out of college into the draft. Or say a player gets injured in an accident.

But they hold the same type of rules. If on one of the lists before TC starts, they can stay on it going into the season and not count as a roster spot. Then be activated after 4 weeks.

Planter fasciitis is no sore foot that recovers in short time.
PF is a condition that lingers as far as pain, can be played on, but requires pain management and takes a long time to heal, sometimes it never does.
I have had it for over 10 years now, and Im highly active and just trudge through the pain, like biting a bullet sometimes but that has nothing to do with
the stress that an NFL TE puts on those tendons/tendon constantly.
I hope Schoon makes a miraculous recovery, but this new is never good news on any rook, but he was drafted to play a strong role in Qs scheme, but dont see it happening.
Red Shirt more than likely for Schoon in 2023 looks like.
I tried to support this pick, but this is not what Q envisioned, and not a good way for Schoon to introduce himself.
You're right but we don't know how bad the PF is. Tony Pollard suffered a PF injury against the Saints in 2022 and ended up only missing one game. Hopefully Schoon's PF is similar.

Its the time frame that is most concerning.
I don't believe they would be this patient if it wasn't a legit concern, they wanted to fast track him.

Semantics.

You are correct that Dallas offered him a contract. Dallas "Let" him walk in the sense that Dallas chose not to pay enough to keep him. Dallas could have retained him, but decided not to. It was up to Dallas- hence they "let him walk".

More importantly, the narrative that Dallas let Schultz leave so they could upgrade the position is incorrect. It was a financial decision.
Three years for $36 million or One year for $9 million. He chose to walk thinking he was going to cash in and Dallas chose to not overpay

Similar to Pollard right now. Dallas offered him, but likely will get less next year

I don’t like to complain about players before they even played an NFL down.

But this just feels like with our luck, Schoon because a solid player like Blake Jarwin. Torrence becomes an All pro.

Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft will be at practice tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. with bells on.

How much you wanna bet that BOTH have better numbers than Schoonmaker this season?

Funny that I was told the Cowboys are so much better at drafting than the Packers.

From 3 different scouting reports on Schoonmaker:

"Ideal Role: Secondary tight end"

"might need a year or so before he works himself into a full-time TE2 role."

"Potential Role Player/Round 4"

well at least he's old.
We hate the 2nd round.

Dallas is a top 3 drafting team in the league.

They will have better #s because they will be #1 and #2 TEs.

Schoon should be the #2 but we will see.

Who says? I will take all of Gute's drafts over the Cowboys drafts all day and twice on Sunday.

And Tucker Kraft was drafted 20 picks after Schoonmaker and you are admitting that Schoonmaker won't be as good.

We can track the Packers draft picks this season vs. the Cowboys and we will see how superior Brian Gutekunst is compared to Stephen and Jerry.

Yeah not sure what the logic is passing on Darnell Washington when there was a huge emphasis on adding a major run blocking TE and he's pretty much a 6th OL. Team is in win now mode and they draft someone that can't even make training camp.
