It isn't like you have to be great to be hc in Dallas. We're interviewing the bottom of the barrel. Jerry already knows about KM. Don't see how he could have done that bad that he was outdone by BS.

The only reason Jerry would hire someone like Schottenheimer is because he has no real options and hiring a random guy to coach in 2025 would likely be possible with a 2-3 year contract and an easy person to fire after only one season if someone he wants becomes available and/or is willing to take the job in 2026.

If Jerry wants to waste another year of his remaining life closing his eyes and throwing a dart hoping to land anywhere near the dart board, then by all means.

Exactly….. if Jerry doesn’t care about winning, why should I.

I honestly don’t think I am going to watch any games live next season, just DVR them, check score later, see if it is worth a watch.

Thank God my two young daughters hate football, I would feel guilty making them fans of this trash team.

And that right there is the main reason why no real HC will come to Dallas to coach. Crap like this. We might have gotten lucky with McCarthy because he was out of football for a year and etc. Be ready to burn some cowboys gear folks. We are in for maybe another decade of the same ole trash.

Agreed. If Jerry wants to hire a coach who will accept Witten as the heir apparent, just go ahead and make the jump to Witten. It would be accepted about as well by fans.

You think Witten cares? You think hes going to turn down probably 10x the salary to coach in the NFL this year over sticking around high school football? Would you turn down a promotion because of what other people think?

I understand not liking the situation, and I understand that Jerry isnt serious about winning, but its odd to me that we are making Witten out to be the bad guy here.

BTW it's dumb but this is how family run businesses work. they pick successors and then groom them. and the successors are always family members or very tight with the family.
 
Anyone listen to the Fan this morning?

Shariff says he was told Stephen is the one who likes Schotty. Also said Stephen wanted McCarthy fired after the Green Bay loss last year and presumably to promote BS, but Jerry wasn't paying a coach to sit on the beach (of course).
