Dak wants free agency.

He would be a fool to have accepted a trade with free agency this close.

Dak will go to the highest bidder.
He would absolutely would have considered a trade (and his agent could have worked out an extension too) if he knew the team was going through a rebuild. There's no chance he would have stuck around Dallas if the Cowboys had done the smart thing and blown this up.

Good chance Dak's agent is comparing a cowboy offer to what would be projected to Dak next year after another bump in the cap too, which realistically could be more in the mid 60s
Agree 100%......In other words, they are going to make Jerry pay a penalty for giving up a shot at free agency (lol).

Why would do that?

To help the Cowboys?

Dak is more than happy to go to the highest bidder in free agency and leave the Cowboys getting nothing for him.

In fact, he probably prefers that at this point.

In this scenario, a trade would essentially BE free agency - because of his no-trade clause, he would have power over where he goes. This whole situation is just pathetic. We always do things in the stupidest possible way.

Sure, he could choose his team in a trade, but what’s the point?

He can collect more money than he’s worth from the Cowboys this season and then have teams bidding for him in the offseason when the money offered will be more than it is right now.

He is in the ultimate position and it would be beyond foolish for him to agree to an extension with unrestricted free agency this close.

Both sides, the Cowboys and Dak, are both probably operating in bad faith right now. Neither side really wants to get a deal done.

Had a trade been worked out pre-draft, he probably still could have landed the richest QB deal ever, or what would have been at that point. Not as much as waiting till next year, but he'd already be on his team with a long term deal, rather than spending a year playing behind a line with two rookies and no running game to speak of.

Jerry is more than likely low balling him because he wants to move on.

Jerry is probably offering 55ish mil a year knowing full well Dak wants 60+ mil a year.

This is Jerry’s way of moving on while still selling to the fans that he “tried”.
Prescott isn’t going anywhere.

And I wish he would.

Dak wants team sabotaging money, that's why there's no deal. We can sign him and be an 8-11 game winner w/ no playoff success, or let him go and rebuild. That is our choice.

“The hold up at this point from what I understand is about the years the Dallas Cowboys are willing to commit to. While, it’s assumed, that Dak is going to be paid at the top of the market, the Dallas Cowboys are aware of that. It’s... do they want to put themselves in a position, contractually, that will keep Dak in Dallas longer than two, three, four years. And that’s what Dak is looking for. He’s looking for a long-term commitment from Dallas. So the hold up here is really the belief from the Dallas Cowboys. This is a guy who’s won a lot of games. But is that enough? Winning’s not enough for Jerry Jones. We know this. They want to do more... they don’t want to just be the team that wins a lot of games. They want to be the team that can play in the Super Bowl.”

If these idiots are stupid enough to not give term then I don't blame Dak for not wanting to sign.

Complaining about the cap and then not giving term would be almost as stupid as what Atlanta is doing.

Yes Jerry we know you want to win the SB, we also know your not willing to do what it will take to get there.
"I'm all in" "Ill write any check" "I would do anything to win"...28 years and who is the GM still? A Meatloaf song comes to mind

"I would do anything for love.......BUT I WONT DO THAT!...NO I WONT DO THAT!"

This is the only reason for the holdup, folks. Dak's here to stay.

There is only ONE report from Russini who said this and she qualified it by “what she understands” and in the same breath she says the holdup is on the side of Jerry and company and their doubt whether or not Dak can win the Super Bowl.

I mean I’m not sure, if her report is even true, that’s not a ringing endorsement, That’s like saying they will pay him for 2 more years of trying since they don’t have a franchise QB yet..
