What on earth does "longer than 2, 3, 4 years" mean? That's a huge variance right there. I mean if Dak is asking 6 and Dallas wants 4 (I doubt it), then the negotiating is basically over.

If the difference is just years - like it apparently was with CD - then this thing is pretty close to done.

Dak have them gross your salary up this year to market price so ~45M. You also need at least 150m guaranteed

Jerry has no problems paying the QB market value. Facts are, he doesn’t believe in Dak. That’s probably the pulse of the league overall too and if Dak has to go somewhere else, he’s not getting a no trade clause, meaning even if a team signs him they’ll factor a way out. People already saw what happened with Russell Wilson, plus you got quite a few decent prospects on rookie contracts teams can draft for.

And anybody thinking Dak wants to leave the Cowboys, the most premiere position in all of sports, with the most visibility and endorsements, is fooling themselves. He gets to play prime time the most and it’s favorite team, The guy has it easy here. He has been baby-sat his whole career and Jerry has sheltered him since he stepped foot here.

This is the only reason for the holdup, folks. Dak's here to stay.

What source do you have to go by that's he's not coming back? Just Mountaineer hopium?

Cuz there's a lot more sources that say he's coming back.

team wants him for zero years
You wish. Lol Without him they’ll end up with a QB they want for zero years. They could be going through a number of QBs they want for zero years. They could be spending years going through QBs they want for zero years.

You believe anything that is put out as long as it fits your narrative.

At the end of the day Dak still ain't got a contract, no matter what Sturm or Russini says.

They are getting your hopes up almost on a daily basis now.

At some point it stops being their fault and starts being yours for believing it.

This is one source and it’s “how I understand it”. In the same paragraph the same source states the hold-up is from Jerry and the FO and that hold up is because they aren’t sure whether he can win the SB or not. To them it’s not an issue about paying market value.

How is that a ringing endorsement?

“We don’t believe in you, but we’ll give you a year of 2 until we draft a guy…”

Sounds like they got zero problems with him playing it out if the source is correct…

Sign him for 6 to 7, and pay out his guarantee. QBs are playing longer.

So this time around, Dak wants a longer contract?

Sounds like a guy that knows the gig is up and that he knows its only but so many times him and his agent can con a front office in to giving him market setting money

Dont get conned again Jerruh

Don’t pay for a depreciating asset. He was fool’s gold last year; the typical Dakota lighting it up against the Giants, Patriots, Panthers, and Washington and being below average versus teams with winning records. Move on from him.

I thought he would be signed by now. But the closer it gets to week 1, the more I'm thinking he's not. At least not before game 1.

Who are these sources saying he's coming back, and where are they getting their info? That too may be wishful thinking. Is there a different color smoke that comes from Jerry's chimney that signifies the type of holdup?

The 49ers just extended Trent Williams, who was holding out. If Dak had the leverage his fan boys say, he would held out or at least be signed by now.

All signs point to Jerry not being in any rush. Also, Stephen has been pointing to performance to justify market value. He did it with Amari and he’s doing it with Lamb saying he needs to be targeted 12-15 times a game.

These statements about Dak indicate performance as well. And Dak has not performed per his salary.

If anything Jerry and Stephen are saying we don’t care what the market is, if you aren’t going to perform like your pay says you should.
