Now I doubt we have a number one pick but if a Cam Newton type of talent is there, you take him. If I am sitting there at pick 5 and we pass on Tyron Smith, Julio Jones, JJ Watt or Patrick Peterson talent for a Christian Ponder, Blaine Gabbert or Jake Locker...I will throw my tv threw the wall.

Dallas wont be drafting a qb from a position of need in 2016, so this is t a concern. They'll need their guy in a few years so if hes not there or they get someone unpolished, thats fine.
 
My hope is that the Cowboys have the first pick and take Bosa or both QBS are already off the board
This team needs to add talent to have an immediate impact to make a Super Bowl run with Romo and not a bench warming QB that contributes nothing

Of course he should be fine. But he will get injured again, it's a given.

I think things are going to change between now and the draft. Players we have never heard of will fly up the boards while others will plummet.

It is incredibly difficult to predict how a certain class will look down the road.

Oh, well 2017 should be the right year. We will pick our guy then.

At this time just a year ago, QBs like Cardale Jones, Gunner Kiel, Kevin Hogan, Dak Prescott and Cody Kessler were viewed as the top, while players like Lynch were not even talked about.

I'd say for me it's a combination of all of those factors. We need a capable backup for both now and an eventual starter for the future.
 
According to a few experts on this board there's a list of can't miss QB prospects that will be available in the 2016 draft.
 
IF Brady and Romo can have starting careers then one or more of these players can possibly have one as well. It's hard to determine Leaf from Eli, or Brees from Rivers, or Smith from Rogers coming out as a Rookie.

seriously.this FO and fans are really delusional about this team.we are not talented ,just look at our D compared to the panthers where every member of the team contribute,we have mostly jags and a couple of good players.

I was looking at the numbers. It's interesting. Although Lynch's numbers are slightly better at the moment (not taking into account strength of schedule), Goff's numbers have been at or around where they are now since he started at Cal. Very impressive. He's been consistently great. On the other hand, Lynch's numbers have gotten drastically better every season. It creates an interesting dilemma: Do you want the guy who's been consistently great and who will probably stay great, or the guy who's gotten drastically better every year and might get even better?
 
I know a lot of people are in love with Wentz. He seems to have everything you want physically and maybe mentally in a QB. But one thing I found very interesting is that he runs the read-option at North Dakota State. So are we looking at another Alex Smith vs Aaron Rodgers draft?
 
Almost as bad as having a guy from Miami (of Ohio) or Eastern Illinois.
 
Some scouts are not very good at their job or they're just dumb. Not sure which one this guy is.

Last year there was really only two decent Qb prospects and I felt like neither one was worth a 1st rd pick. Winston and Mariotta are having ok yrs I guess but so did Rick Mirer. I still don't think they'll develop into elite QBs.

While there isn't any slam dunk Qb prospects I this draft, there are several good Qb prospects. How hard any of these guys work to develop into a great Qb is anybody's guess. None of us know any of these guys and can only guess on the intangibles they may possess to have what it takes to become an elite Qb.

Brandon Allen
Dak Prescott
Christian Hackenberg
Carson Wentz
Connor Cook
Brandon Doughty
Kevin Hogan

All of these guys are pretty good prospects. Not saying they'll all be elite or even starters. But right now they all have something about them that could be developed into a serviceable QB in the NFL. So this scout is just lazy
