Jeff Fisher says, "Amen!"So McVay had little to do with it? Instead the Rams were just gonna come together at some point under any coach and take off?

To be clear... our offense didn't play uncharacteristically better or worse than they'd been playing.
Our defense did.
And I don't know how the Rams could have played much better on offense.
So, the point being... if you actually did merely stop them 2-3 times and give the ball to our offense, conventionally speaking we score at least one more time if not twice, and they score at least one less time, maybe twice.
coaching sucked. I don't disagree. but its not like they had to rebuild. they had to rescheme. which they did.Dude, they were literally 4-12 the year before McVay showed up. Goff was terrible. You don’t get to rewrite history just to fit your narrative.
That team had a backup QB who I will argue has played at a higher level than any QB this decade. I’ll put Foles 2013 vs any QB this decade, and regained his 2013 form in last years playoffs.
The Cowboys had Weeden and god awful Cassel. And they made a terrible decision to go from Murray to Randle. Big time downgrade
He took over a mediocre football team with a QB who was headed to bustville and elevated them with legit coaching. He embraces the chess side of football and his team has benefited just like the Cowboys or any other team would if they had a good coach like this.
JG's lack of success isn't an accident. You don't go this long without playoff success by mistake.
I was calling for us to hire Andy Reid the day Philly fired him.
He’s struggling to win a Super Bowl but my gosh is he a great coach. His offenses are so hard to defend and now he has a wizard at QB.
His team was stacked with talent, they went out and paid for even more talent, something this team rarely do.
but the team lacked in some major areas. and btw, McVay went shopping and added Peters, Talib, Suh, Fowler, Brooks. that takes management support and open check book. that list alone is similar to what we started with.He certainly inherited some good players but not a good football team.
It's not like Garrett was handed chopped liver himself when he took over............. Ware, Romo, Witten, etc. One of the great myths is that Garrett took over this joke of a talented team. They were just a team that was broken by Phillips, very much like how the Rams were broken under Fisher.
Never said he had nothing to do with it, but he was definitely coming into a good situation. So McVay had little to do with it? Instead the Rams were just gonna come together at some point under any coach and take off?
LOL. yes.. I have seen this. some teams complete rosters in 2-3 years, some need a decade and churn a few careersThe other thing that often has me chuckling and will repeat itself this year as it has for every season is that leading up to the 2019 season, some of these same people will bristle if there is any Cowboys fan that doesn't think the Cowboys are one of the most talented teams in the league. That if a fan thinks they won't make the playoffs or will be an early exit, they are unreasonable and ridiculous.
Then the season happens, we don't make the playoffs or bow out early and their battle cry is suddenly, hey, how can you blame Garrett? His roster isn't complete and how can you expect him to compete with more talented teams?
Wash, rinse and repeat.
I don't disagree with coaching making a difference. that's not the argument. but McVay had some nice pieces in place and some talent to work with.Goff was awful.
Gurley was struggling. Often injured. BTW, CJ Anderson looks All Pro thanks to coaching.
But forget all that.
Even if you believe they had amazing talent they still weren't a good team. Why? Because coaching.
The Cowboys get nothing from their coaches. They are all talent and will to win.
The players have issues with our coaching and so do a lot of former players in the media.
It's widely accepted that we do nothing special from a strategy standpoint and, regardless of what side you're on, no coach should get 10+ years to prove themselves without some prior success.
coaching sucked. I don't disagree. but its not like they had to rebuild. they had to rescheme. which they did.
me too. but jerry jerry jerry. That’s fair. I want to see us do the same thing.
Which makes real coaching and not this bottom of the barrel game day coaching even more important.

And I said at the time they were making a mistake when they benched WeedenAnd the coaching staff doesn’t take any blame for that? Shouldn’t they tell the front office, “Hey, we need a starting RB and a backup QB.”
And that doesn’t explain why Weeden won all of his games as a backup for the Texans.
So let see Payton with 2:00 in the game tied, already in fg range. Throws on 1st down, stops the clock is good game day coaching.

the challenge for any dallas coach regardless of whom having been in charge is dealing with Jerry Meddling. would McVay have found success in Dallas with Jerry Meddling? not so sure.
Never said he had nothing to do with it, but he was definitely coming into a good situation.
