Sounds like sour grapes from a marriage(s) gone south in a fury. Marriage is not right for everybody but there are some very happily married men here and they'll tell you that.

Married men live longer, that is fact. It's not about marriage, that's not the problem. It's getting married for the wrong reasons and infatuation or lust or feeling the "need" to be married are poor reasons.

You have some good memories through the years and that's not the "worst thing".

Or 43 years of family law leaves him cynical...

Being in any law for long leaves all of them cynical.

Tell ya what, living for as long as I have, and it sounds like your lawyer and I are close in age, it's damned difficult to fight cynicism. You want to believe, give people a second chance but bitterness is a crafty rascal and you have to fight it constantly. I am not a full blown cynic yet but I am skeptical that I will not get there.

I spent almost 2 hour with my lawyer today ... I never felt rushed. He answered every question. He is expensive and good, I need good and creative. I am in a very vulnerable position and my lawyer understands that. I feel confidant that he'll strike a fair deal for both parties. I made that clear that I want a fair deal for both. I refuse to be that bitter Ex...

My lawyer said one line to me that will see to it that I never get married again. He said "you are hiring me to wind down your marriage in an orderly fashion". Marriage is a business arrangement these days...

I know someone posted that you want your lawyer to be your best friend ... I had to meet with him again. My goodness, I got so lucky ... him and I get along fantastically. Funny story, my wife lawyer recommended him. But he also told me my wife"s attorney is a very capable attorney...but he thinks we can avoid court...

I also did agree with my lawyer the he said, "in the long run, this best". She doesn't want to be with me then it's time to move on...I got paperwork and stuff to fill out. She will also have to fill out...financials and stuff. She is about to be inconvenienced like never before...

I'm hoping to have enough cash to buy a cup a coffee when its final ...

I'm starting to go through the house and sort. It sucks that she will not participate in the closing of the house and 30 years memories.

You have my respect for that. Not an easy position, for sure, but it is infinitely better than being bitter and resentful.

lukin will be alright soon enough. He will end up meeting someone unexpectedly who he can go bird watching with and hit up those early-bird dinners

You don't have to get married again but it is healthy to find another companion
