Twitter: Sham: Romo's overthrow to TWill was different route...Romo vid Post #79

Tom Brady and Peyton manning miss throws like that now and then. BUT ROMO is not allowed to miss any according to you.

He must not have watched the Broncos game yesterday when Peyton overthrew the deep receiver. I guess that $100m QB should hit it every time too.

I guess all those interceptions against Washington were the receivers faults too? They should have made additional adjustments and then the INT's wouldn't have happen. We have to stop making excuses if we want to move forward.

Yes, Romo missed him, no big deal. Its preseason, its a practice game and that's what its all about, PRACTICE. Geez!! Romo made a lot of nice throws but he missed one, so what. Smh!!! The entire offense was rolling, Romo had plenty of time. We just need to hold onto the rock. Romo missing a rookie on a overthrow in a presesaon game is no big issue.
Why don't you treat them the same? Why does Romo get a pass but Dunbar gets hung for his error? Both plays cost us 7 points. Yet for some reason you guys want to pick on the guy making $400k this year and then turn around and say "it's not a big issue", "so what", "who cares" for the guy with the $100M dollar contract. #RomoStansUnite

You really just compared an overthrow which is being debated as an overthrow to a redzone fumble?

I'm done.

Both have had HOF careers, and have won a title. Romo is still floating around in an ocean of mediocrity, but is being paid like a future HOFer.

I would've bet you'd be the first to go back to the Commander game for the 400th time.

I kinda wonder what the "correct" route was supposed to be? You had 2 guys sprinting uncovered down either sideline, and the ball was overthrown by 10' over 1's head.

Either way, it's preseason, and as we've been reminded ad nauseum, by some...it means nothing.

Exactly. The ball was clearly overthrown, but it looked like it was largely because Williams stopped running once he beat his defender. Either way, that's what preseason is for. The two of them will get their connection down.

I just cannot understand why a WR would slow down after beating a CB. What is going through their heads when they do that? "Nice! I beat him cold! Time to relax..."?

How often do we see Romo not hit the open receiver? Not a lot. How often do we see us turn it over when driving? Much more often. Miscommunication or bad throws will happen to every offense. Turning it over at the rate tht we did yesterday and have been in previous years don't happen to playoff teams. That's plays a much larger role in our failures than this play.

I've already agreed that there are other problems.. just saying when you're a QB getting paid like an elite player, and your guy gets wide open.. you need to hit him.

Sloppy play has been a problem for us just as much as taking bad penalties at terrible times in recent years. JG needs to change both of those things this year or it may be his last.

Except that its ridiculous to say that Williams slowed down.

It is always a different route, those wide open passes are missed far too often.

You may be right. He might not have slowed down, but it didn't look like he kept going full speed. Maybe I'm just wrong- I'll have to go look at the play again.

Looked like he was running hard for the ball to me.. not to mention that its a completely riduculous thought that he would get behind the entire defense and then just decide all of a sudden to quit on the play.

But whatever it takes to defend Romo on every single play no matter what.. as we all know, Romo can never just have a bad play.

Ironic how last week Romo makes a good read on that blown slant to Dez that went for a big gain, and this week misses a throw that looked to have been a much easier read.

Romo over shot it. It is crazy the lengths people will go to coddle someone. It wasnt Romo, the ball went too far. Ball's fault.

Please find a post that I outright defended Romo. Hell, even remotely defending Romo.

I dare you.
I double-dog dare you.
Don't make me triple-dog dare you.

I posted an observation I made, whether correct or not, and felt that I have seen such plays from other WR's in the past- not just Cowboys players, and I questioned the thought process.

I questioned the WR's thought process in such a situation. I even admitted I may be wrong when you said I was "ridiculous". Boy, do you have a chip on your shoulder.

So... go find those Romo-defending posts of mine, since you made the claim. Shouldn't be hard. Otherwise you just called yourself out as someone who makes uneducated and unfounded assumptions and don't mind being a donkey about it.

I'm confused by this thread. The OP indicates Brad Sham heard something to suggest the rookie ran a wrong route. Thats not really farfetched in his third game. Where does all this Romo-hater Romo-lover animosity come from? Either Shams info is good, or it's not. Both overthrows and wrong routes happen. It's preseason. And the outcome for the team is the same in either circumstance.
