Hard to say without seeing the opening day roster. The O-line is worrying me a bit. Right now we are the third best team in the NFC. I see NFCCG and who knows after. All I know is that I don't want to lose in the playoffs to the Eagles or 49ers. And right now, that is what I see.

We are going to the NFC championship game this year, book it , put it in three inch headlines...

unless something terrible happens to some of our core players injuries and whatnot but I'm calling the shot

if we're healthy going into the playoffs we're going to the championship game
Now this is what I like to see and hear. We do not get enough of this on here.:bow::clap:

^ This.

Personally, I believe that both Kellen and Mike know that Dak is limited, but don’t have any recourse or the courage to tell Jerry straight.

I think this years offensive changes are about trying to get the ball out quickly, but I don’t know if Dak has the processing speed post snap to succeed and this may backfire. I believe they didn’t draft O Line early because they figured the offensive scheme would limit sack opportunities, but I think Daks processing and panic when sensing pressure is going to make that more difficult. Let’s hope that this tweak to the offensive is just what Dak needs, and everything clicks on the same year that our defense is it’s strongest
More like Kellen Moore is limited.

I can see you don't pay attention a lot because if you think Prescott can't process fast enough, he actually is better against the blitz then he is when he asked to hold the ball longer..

it's a fact, we've seen it he's one of the best against the blitz he's also one of the best at 3rd and over 7.. I mean if he can't read defenses fast enough how is it that he could read the blitz and get the ball out??

Some of these narratives they just keep getting made-up and like rinse and repeat and yet they're not true.

the fact is he had to hold the ball longer I forget what the statistics were but when he had to hold the ball longer than normal because nobody was open that's when worse things happen and it does happen because now you have DB is closing the gaps and seeing that something's about to happen instead of it happening quicker. the biggest thing because the changes were made to get the ball out quicker doesn't necessarily mean it was getting out too slow, they were not open they were not getting separation and they weren't catching the football,

so if we could just get that accomplished this year by these subtle changes in the offense, we have a chance to be more efficient less risk. its the talent level that will help those ie better targets starting game 1 vs last year,.,.see 2021 for reference.

Tell me a team that traveled to the east coast and then went to the west coast and beat a team that had extra rest.
Ok….just to name a few
  • 1975 Cowboys- won div round in Minn then next week won NFC championship in LA
  • 1978 Cowboys- won div round vs Atl, then beat rams in NFC championship next week
  • 1980 Oakland Raiders- won div round in Cle, next week won AFC championship in SD
  • 2000 Balt Ravens- won WC at Denver, won div round at rested Tenn, won AFC championship at Oakland.
  • 2010 GB Packers- won at Philly in WC, beat Atl who was rested in Atl in div, round, then beat Chi in Chi in NFC championship
  • 2012 Ravens- won WC at Indy, beat a rested Den team in Den in Div round, beat NE in NE in AFC championship.
  • 2013 Niners- won WC game at GB, beat a rested Car team in Div round.
  • 2019 Tenn Titans- won WC game at NE, then won div rd at rested #1 seed Balt.
This is a very incomplete list.

So much pessimism here it's crazy...there are 2 teams in the nfc that we have to figure out how to beat.

We had a great offseason and a sneaky good draft, if this defense is as good as we all think it will be then this team can beat anyone.

I'd say we get to the nfcc game but my crystal ball is mirky after that
Watch out for Detroit, too.

How about the rest advantage that the 49ers got? I don't remember a team allowed to get that advantage in the playoffs before. Impressive list by the way.

All teams knew that advantage going in. Great teams overcome their disadvantages. The Cowboys were good enough to win a WC game. But they were not good enough to beat a Niners team that had the rest and home field advantage- which the niners earned.

Again, great teams overcome all obstacles. It’s what defines greatness. Lately, the Cowboys have been good. Just not great. Let’s hope that changes this year.

We are officially one week from watching a Cowboys game! I am more hyped about this year’s team than any team I can remember beyond 1995. Part of that is our roster, and part of that is the lack of NFC rosters around us.

If you had to bet today, how far you think this team goes (assuming no injuries)?

I’m saying MINIMUM NFC Championship!

NOTE: If you are currently responding with ‘we need to wait and see…’ or ‘You can’t assume no injuries….’, pop a cold one, let that hair down, get out of your own head, and burp up an answer!

It’s time for football! Go Cowboys!!
If the other teams are identical to last year:
Yes

If the other teams improved:
Wait and See.

This is as good a team as they have had in a long time so it may be their best shot. Of course it will take some goof fortune, like staying healthy, getting a few bounces here and there, and the refs calling it fairly. But getting through 32 teams is such a difficult task. Still I will expect them to be in every game this year and to win most of them.

My concerns are the OL and DL, two critical areas of every football team. But if Tyron stays healthy and has anything left in the tank, and Mazi develops quickly, they could be really good on both sides of the ball.

Threads like this is why I wish we were not blocked against bumping old threads at the end of the season.

Honestly, I look at this year very similarly to last. Very good shot at the division and anything less than 1 playoff win would be a disappointment. (assuming no major injuries of course)

Not sure we’re good enough to eclipse that, but hoping for the best.

There is one constant throughout all the years of disappointments and post season losses. Players come and go, coaches come and go, but Jerry remains. I've come to the conclusion many years ago that Jerry considers himself the smartest man in the room and the results speak for themselves. After all, Jerry fired Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson. So I've become angry, frustrated, and indifferent to the Boys each season. Yes, I still watch, but the losses really don't mean much to me anymore. I've did what many on here have suggested over the years...I switched to a team where the owner doesn't meddle and allows his coaches to coach. I actually enjoy football more now that I've taken a step back. I use to get so pissed off that I didn't want to be around my family after a loss. Those days are done.

As many times as the Cowboys have come close to getting past the divisional round, the Law of Averages suggest that this could be their year.

Of course, all the elements have to come together. That would include avoiding devastating injuries, the stars playing big in big games, the emergence of more young playmakers, good gametime decisions by the coaches, gaining momentum at the right time, and a certain degree of good luck.

I would say they are due.
