The Dunbar comment is silly, but I can understand why he's aggravated answering the running back question so much. It's very clear – no single athlete has distinguished himself against the other, they are going to rotate them until either someone does, but I find the system that is productive. Any other answer would just cause controversy.

This. I also feel that the RB situation is not about choosing one back over the other based on ability as much as choosing 1, 2 or 3 who can stay healthy for the long haul. They obviously have no real work horse at RB so they have 2 (DMac and JRan) with 3 down capability, 1 (MChri) for all 3 down, dirty yard and 4th Q wear down the D capability and LDun with 2nd and 3rd and long down ability. I guess that's is their thought process? I do think JG favors LDun because he's worked hard in camp up until being hurt. It will be interesting to see if there's enough room for all theses RB's to be effective and I think it's a good safeguard if injury bug hits. Without a threatening run game, we're in a bad situation offensively. (not that that's any news)

has anyone used a RBBC of 4 in the past? this seems cray cray. might as well get monte ball and ray rice in while they are at it and make it 6. haha

The Cowboys actually dressed 4 RBs 6 times during the 2013 season. The difference is the 3rd and 4th RBs (Dunbar/Tanner) played STs. Dunbar is the only RB who I believe is on STs this season.

Randle was also a ST last season, was pretty good too. With way ST has regressed may need his help this season too.

Can't just wait for your opportunity, you have to reach out and grab it by the throat, then not let go as if your life depended on it.

well both randle and dunbar did as good as they could for the few plays they were in.
It is hard to show anything if you never start and play a whole game.
Murray was just a guy till felix got hurt , and then he got to play full time and did good enough to take the starting job/

it is similar with CM, he never got to play a whole game as starter in Seattle, and when you just come in for a play here and there,
it is almost impossible to shine.

At the end of last season, dallas should have played randle and dunbar as starters after murray broke his hand, then they would know more
about what these guys would be like as starters.

Makes sense. I just hope that in any case Romo goes down (hope to God he doesn't,) that Kellen will be ready and Garrett will take the risk. For some reason I feel like Weeden is looked at as the "safe guy" to put in when QB1 goes down, but I think he's a bigger risk than a prepared Kellen. But I do understand that he needs to get caught up on the offense first. Hopefully it's just a short term thing and he can take over as QB2 soon enough.

I agree
When Moore is comfortable cut weeden
Also cut Dunbar soon
Hated cutting Edwards and keeping Dunbar

I know it won't happen, but I wish people would stop with trying to make changes just to make changes. Wait and see what transpires first. You may be surprised, but you will never be happy....LOL...
I mean by saying this, the roster is set, it is set for game one. They practice for the Giants tomorrow. They will be focused on that. Not any player can come in here and change things for now.
Can't wait to get into the weekend, so we can get threads on the game, not changing out players.

Weeden is our back up, he will not be replaced, not at this point. There is nothing Showers can do at this point to help except for his role on the PS.
No way do I want Tebow in here, he will be a media distraction. not to mention fans yelling for him to replace Romo after a dropped pass.
Besides, Tebow just isn't any good as to the role he wants to play. He brings a circus. Can't believe he is still covered by ESPN the way he is.

Sometimes I wonder if Fantasy football and Madden football aren't behind a lot of peoples thoughts on who is good and who is not. Who we should and shouldn't sign.
I know that really is not the case, but sure seems like it at times.

They are going to have to make 2 cut 4 weeks in and I would expect one of the Rbs to be one of those cuts.

I don't like to carry that many backs plus to have 4 active (plus a FB) leaves other holes. I think Dunbar is too small to play great on the coverage teams unless he is playing gunner now.

Practices are opportunities. Off field as well as on field behavior/actions are also opportunities. Murray's broken hand was an opportunity for the subs AND Murray. Murray was the one that grabbed it with a death grip. And even before last season, both Randle and Dunbar could have wrested away Murray's starting position, like Murray did from Uncle Felix, when Murray was injured. Never happened.

Hope they have the stones to take advantage of their opportunities this season, they certainly have the talent.

I'll never understand this place. RB is one of the biggest question marks after losing Murray. The FO has put together a versatile group all of whom have shown potential to perform very well to their individual strengths. That they are unproven under a heavier load is really the only significant point against them. DMac being the exception but to that I only say, Oakland, and he gets some benefit of the doubt. He also is not being relied on as the end all be all at RB. Sure it would be nice to have an allpro, every down back but how many teams have that? A young, versatile group with something to prove that has also already shown they can produce when given a chance can be a good thing. The RB position looks much better now than it did the day Murray signed with that other team. At least from my glass half full perspective.

Oh. Does Romey Rome call him that? I think it has a nice ring to it.

Not that I know of. Just very Rome-like. Hopefully JAGbar will be a guy that we can count on when his # is called.

Dunbar contributed pretty significantly to the win over the Seahawks last year. He made a big play on a third down on the touchdown drive just prior to halftime.

In all seriousness, how much are you helping Showers' development using him as a swiss army knife right now? On one hand, you're giving him an opportunity to show his skills at multiple positions. On the other hand, he's not specializing and focused on anything.
