ok that settle this question lol

I guess he can do some commercials or something in off season.

Yes he'll get local ads for Dallas, or national ads. Who knows, maybe Nike will sign him for some kind of football shoe contract. Don't know if they do that for fooball.

I'll never understand why fans want players already under contract for years to come to have their contract torn up for one that's less cap friendly.

Can you say player worship?

Yes, we all have little alters in our room with a players face, candles and incense to bow down and chant from morning till midnight.

By the time he is able to get new contract, assuming his play stays at its current level, he will stand to make more than 25 million a year. Under the current CBA I believe he is eligible for some additional performance based pay that will increase his salary anyway, although I am not exactly sure the math behind that, @percyhoward or @AdamJT13 could probably give a clearer answer on that.
This is correct. None first round picks on rookie deals earn bonus based on there play. Im not sure how much they could earm though

I dont believe it counts against the cap either

Nothing like a part time job to make ends meet. It'll get him through the Christmas season LOL. I wonder how much a Papa johns commercial pays?

Everyone always wants to give money away....Hell No!
He's under contract; you don't just give him more money because he performs well.

If he continues to perform well, you explore a new contract after his third year to both reward him and to get a better deal without allowing him to get anywhere close to free agency, but you give him nothing...nadda...after his rookie year.

He will be redone after year 3 for a huge raise. This year Dak, Brown, Collins will all get huge CBA playing incentives due to time played.

No. having an elite QB on a cheap contract is the best way to build a dominant team for.3-4 year run

I bet he earns another 200k in performance based pay. Have to make sure he sustains this, which I think he will. I look to nick foles 2013 year of 27 tds and 2ints as a reason to tap the brakes on a new contract now.

No he should not....nor should any player. You signed a contract. You agreed to play your butt off and help the team succeed. Now, once that contract is up, you can negotiate for a better deal. Also, during your contract, if asked to rework your deal, you can put in stipulations that benefit you later.

Dak will get his money in a few years.

Imo, the cap is too rigid. Teams should be able to release players if they have been convicted of felonies, ate repeat offenders if domestic violence, and if they have failed a certain number of illegal substance tests (for illegal drugs, not performance enhancers).....without penalty. Also, no other team can sign that player for at least 1 calendar year.

Also, one cap amendment I would like to make.....since QB is the highest paid player on the team, and it tends to cripple the team with signing other positions....I would like the QB salary to not count against the cap.....but only if that salary does not surpass a certain % of the entires cap, say 15-20% per season.

He will also get some money from his jersey sales, in which he is #2 in the NFL behind Zeke.

Of course not. Enjoy having him at a minor impact to the cap while we can.

I don't know if this has been said, but HELL no. With respect to Dak, you build on entry level contracts. He'll get PAID on his next deal, similar to Wilson.

Low contracts on elite talent is how you win in a salary cap-era. You don't mess that up. It's a business both ways and the reason why drafting well is imperative to success. It's what separates the great teams from the not-so-great ones. Cheap contracts on hits in the draft.

Giving him a raise defeats that competitive advantage.

Edit -- it's been said multiple times. Good lol :)

Keep him at the minimum we all started out first jobs with low pay ....he was drafted 4th round them the breaks....kids going to be a millionaire his time will come. Dak+Zeke contracts will put a dent in Jerrys pocketbook when the time comes.

This is not a charity ........ Dak is smart and will make plenty of money being the good looking and very charismatic starting QB of the Dallas Cowboys.

And he will probably be the highest paid QB in the league when he gets his first non rookie contract.
