Should Dak get a raise in pay this year or next?

I'll never understand why fans want players already under contract for years to come to have their contract torn up for one that's less cap friendly.

Can you say player worship?

Zeke will be in every single commercial once the season ends. Just like McCoy after the 2013 season. He'll be getting money elsewhere.

Dak will too. Dak brushed aside commercials because it was still Tony's team. Now that it's Dak's team, he'll be racking up the endorsements.

Zeke is going to make it BIG with cereals and foods in general. I can even see him recast in the Life cereal. "He'll eat it. He eats EVERYTHING. Hey, EZ, he likes it." (Gobbling up cereal in his patent 'Feed me' motion)

Not at this time. He needs to continue to prove he is the long term solution. I would consider increasing his pay for his 3rd and 4th year but only only if he adds a 5th year to the deal with a discount equal to the additional money he gets in years 3 & 4. That would give him more money early and give the team one more year to chase a super bowl before having to pay him $25 million a year. He likely would not agree to that because it pushes off his $50 million signing bonus for another year.

We can't give him a a raise due to the CBA. Dak can get a loan (dumb move), he can sign merchandise deals, and he should take out an injury insurance policy. Dak seems like a bright kid so he realizes his big payday is coming.

I'm sure adidas will give him 50m as QB1 for the Dallas Cowboys, maybe 100m if he threatens to go with Nike or UA

DAL won't extend him until after Year 4 to keep the cap number down.......no need to rush it........he will even get pay for play money for the 4 years at 300k+ a year

ok I dont mean like 20 mil a year or even10 or 5.
I was thinking if I was the owner, I would give this kid a raise to at least 2 mil a year, and maybe to 5 a year,
then tell him to keep that in mind when he is signing 2nd contract.

It isnt right to expect him to play for 4th round salary, which is what $500,000 a year?
I dont know how much of that he would have after taxes, but it doesnt seem like enough.

The way I look at it he has done enough to earn 2 mil this year already !

So what would you do if your the owner?
Can't under league rules. Must wait until year 3.

No way. When you hit big on a 4th round rookie deal, the club has to cash in on that cheap contract. Money can be spent more intelligently elsewhere.

What the organization should do if the Cowboys win the Super Bowl with Dak is use their connections to help get as many commercials as possible. Those commercials should be well enough to last him until his new contract. Owners know how to take care of players with smaller contracts who do really well.

How many companies would be falling over themselves to sign Dak?

Jerry can just give Dak a million bucks a year for three years by taking out his garbage once a week as a side job.

Probably already been said, but they have to release him first, have him clear waivers, then they can sign him to a new contract.

Whoever is top of the waiver order probably gets him, but when the goal is spending as much money as possible you have to try these things.

Keep him at the minimum until it is time for a new contract. Dallas is already paying a lot for Romo, no reason to throw money into the wind.

Giving raises to anyone who performs beyond expectations for a short period of time is no way to run a business.

Would be tough to keep him at his current contract with him being the starting QB and far outplaying the contract he signed as a 4th round pick. If he wins rookie of the year and league MVP, it wouldn't be right keeping him at his current and it could cause an issue especially with him being the starter going forward. He would clearly deserve a raise over what he's making now based on his performance and now being the starting QB. You have to make some exceptions when a player far outplays their contract and earns a starting job especially at QB.

No.
what I'm worried about is him ending up on the cover of Madden and invoking the curse that comes with.

Should he? Yes. Will he? No.
He's locked into his contract for two more years.

I see Whataburger, H.E.B., and Alamo Draft House advertisements in his future.
