Dak’s next contract will be commensurate with other top quarterbacks in the NFL. It will not be substantially more, nor will it be substantially less. He plays for one of the most valuable sports franchises in the world. He will not, nor should he, be inclined to give it a “discount”.
Cool, as long as it is not with the Cowboys!

Apparently some aren't aware, but Dak already restructured once to allow more cap space (he and Zach Martin both did a year ago). He clearly is willing to work with the team on that.

To be clear, it's not a pay cut, it's restructuring how the contract is paid. That's how it works with anyone, not just Dak. He still has one year left on that contract.
We've noticed. It just doesn't work since the money is still owed. Dak and the handful of highest paid players on this team need to give discounts. Help the team financially build a winner. If not, the same is going to continue.

His agent will make sure he gets more than the last franchise qb, So it’s in JJ best interest to sign him before purdy or the others get there’s.

When Dak got his last deal how long was it before it was surpassed

All these stars making enough money for 7 generations, they cannot even spend in a normal life all the money they make each year. Why make so much that their team cannot afford great players at other positions?

Dak's salary is impeding the Boys' ability to bringing in free agent impact starters. The draft alone has not brought the Boys to the big game. They must supplement their draft picks, undrafted free agents with impact players who are free agents who fill an immediate need for the team, or trades that are steals.

Lots of you will say Dak will never do it, reduce his salary, but my suggestion is the only possible way to improve the team.

Jimmy Johnson knew he needed more talent. He brought in Plan B free agents Jay Novacek and James Washington. He traded for guard John Gesek, DE Charles Haley, safety Thomas Everritt and DT Tony Casillas. He received a treasure of draft picks for Herschel Walker who had led the NFC in rushing in 1988. He knew the team's weaknesses and always made moves to improve.

Our 2023 team did not have enough talent to make it to the top. Porous run defense, not enough run stuffing LB's, average run blocking OL. We need more than a draft to get this team over the malaise of the past 28 or so years.
As one of the founding members of Dak's fan club....i would hope he would take a discount.

He already has made more money than he will ever spend in his life and he makes so much more on top of his salary for being "America's Team's" qb.

If for nothing else, the fanbase would look at him a lot different. It would immediately relieve some of the pressure just by this gesture...it would be worth the money just for that. It would also be an investment in his legacy. Allowing the team to put better players around him would ultimately help his chances at a greatness legacy. IF he were then able to keep his same production and win a super bowl or two....he would be a consideration for the HOF.

Unfortunately, this society can't see anything beyond today. I hope he is different but previous experience with Contracts with him and agent is not promising.

Hell no. This crab in the bucket mentality was created by the owners. The salary cap era was spearheaded by Jerry Jones in tesponse to the free agency boom of the early 90s.

So why should Dak give a discount because the worst GM in the NFL and his son suck at salary cap management. Let Jerry rot in the salary cap cage he fought so hard to create.

Not 1 penny for this unappreciated fan base.

Dak is not giving up any money to make the team around him better. He will, as he should, take as much as he can.

However, he needs to quit saying he'll do whatever it takes to win if he's not willing to sacrifice some pay for a better team.

If he does an honest assessment of himself, he should see he's not good enough to win without a load of talent around him. He still can't read defenses much better than year 1...even his teammates feel he panics when the first read is not there. He panics against good teams in the regular season AND the playoffs. The tape is out. If he still can't see the field now after 8 years, he never will. Yes he definitely should if he truly wants to win. That and see a sports psychiatrist.

It's rare when any player gives a team discount, so I don't think it will happen. It would be great if he shocked us though.
Cowboy fans have crapped all over Dak. If he questions it his agent will simply pull up some old tweets and ask why. He's not taking a discount, nor even considering one.

Some like to pretend discounts are the norm, but outside of Brady late in his career, it isn't at all. But it's something for people to complain about, which seems to be the primary goal of some fans.
i might be misremembering, but i think brees did similar at one point as well? definitely rare though

Meh he is gonna get a 60 million per year extension. He will be a super stud stat machine again next year. The team will wear down again. He will pee in his panties again and we will go home sad.

Extension and restructure would be the financial buzzwords. Players & good agents aren't going with reductions & discounts......and rightfully so.

Dak could take 30m year and get endorsements to push him higher. This is the only feasible way he stays here and succeeds.

Pretty sure Dak believes he is succeeding in the game of life.
