Should Marion Barber be our feature back? *MERGE*

Nope. In fact, I'd rather give the ball to MBIII in the second half, especially if we have a lead. He's more of a "wear you down" type RB then JuJo.

JuJo in the first half to help build the lead.

MBIII in the second to help protect it.

lanecity is suggesting that MB soften up Ds in the 1st half, so that they're worn down, and JJ can explode for huge gains in the 2nd

I dont' agree, but you got his premise wrong

I don't think he misses any more open holes than any other back.

Like you said, they all miss some.

But I don't think Parcells, or any HC for that matter, would start a RB that had a habit of missing open holes.

Why would they ?

1. Yes he does.

2. Yes they would when he's the best they've got.

Well he's got it backwards.

It's better to have the "Big play" back in the first half to help open up your offense in the first half to allow for more scoring opportunities, and when/if you have a lead, use the "Wear 'em down" back in the second half to help protect the lead.

Emmitt Smith didn't get all those yards cuz he was the "big play back" (for the ignorant: I'm not saying Emmitt wasn't a big play back), he got his yards protecting leads in the second half.

Emmitt got a lot of carries even in the 1st half of game and he got his yards because he was one of the best to play the game at RB. When your getting around 350 carries a season you are being used in every single qrt.

For his career

1qrt 901 carries
2nd 771 carries
3rd 807 carries
4th 647 carries

I don't think he misses any more holes than any other back.

I think he is a pretty darn good back when healthy.

Finding fault with JJ's running style is kind of humorous.

His only problem is that he has been hurt and missed games.

When he plays (21 games) he averages 4.0 yds a carry, 86 yds a game and had 12 TD's.

86 yds a game is a 1376 yd season if he can stay healthy.

If you want to find fault, you might mention 7 fumbles.

really? so you think he's had GOOD blocking basically every game of his two yr career then? He's started 19 games and failed to gain 50+ yds twice...he's gained 70+ 15 times

David

You are missing the point totally and taking my point far too literally. What my post is saying is that Barber is a better back when there is poor blocking. But Julius can look like an elite back when the blocking is good.

Let's simplify these even more -- which of the two back has had a game that made you think he was the best runner in the league that week?

This has never been proven.

He's gone 149+ four times and probably leads the league in big runs called back because of holding calls. When there's a crease, he can go the distance.

Good afternoon my friends! The Prophet is pondering the question, "do we have the depth chart at running back in the wrong order?" Hmmmm??? LOL.

The Prophet has a gut instinct that one Marion Barber should be given the rock instead of the injury prone Julius Jones. Oh don't get me wrong friends, at times ole JJones has looked splendid. But sadly his performance is streaky at best and quickly snuffed by yet another injury.

Marion Barber on the other hand, seems consistent and determined in the limited times he has been used.

As always, thoughts on this board by others welcome.

Oh by the way, the FWST Cowboy board will be up in running again in short order due to my tireless efforts.

That doesn't make sense....

Is that you The Answer?

Says the Avery of course.

Didn't The Rock already do the whole "3rd Person" thing to death? Im just guessing...

The Dallas seems to think he did..... :lmao2: THE DALLAS - omg thats funny!

You want your number 1 running back to be able to take the rock to the house. The one who does that most consistantly is JJ. If I was going to switch any order it would be Tyson Thompson for Marion Barber.

Sorry pal, Barber has shown us much more that Thompson at this point. The Prophet is not convinced JJ is our best RB at this point.

Prophet or is it Bowmanbody?? One in the same right?? Man i thought u feel in a hole and were lost for good,to bad u found a way out. Bigeyetuna send's his love

BP pretty much said JJ 1st & 2nd downs, MB is the 3rd down back. MB nice change of pace.

Here's to the Star board being back up soon. I can't take all these prophecies. :)

Why do you feel the need to state your the prophet, when you can just state your opinion. To me, IMO, you lose credibility with me. It to much like "an inside source told me" thing. Just asking why.

Well, well, well ole BrownEyeTuna has found a home. LOL.
Post on the topic The Prophet has started or buzz off. LOL. Troublemaker.
