Never crossed my mind when this happened yesterday. He will play at least another 2-3 years.

Romo isn't going anywhere unless he ends up with multiple concussions in the next two seasons. A QB can come back from broken collarbones, and he already has. This break isn't going to do anymore damage than the last one did.

Romo will see the end of his contract and won't stop playing while he still has arm strength and a good cast around him. He's a competitor.

This is the cowboys saying "we know we have a problem, we know its a problem, we see answers to the problem, we are going to ignore the problem" Yet again. Professional back up qbs are needed. They are hard, but Dallas should have been finding one OR bringing in youngs and making one. They chose Weeden, prosecution rests its case. While Weeden is not a horrible qb, it can be debated he has no future as a long term back up. This is on the Cowboys. No one had to tell them Romo was getting younger. No one had to tell them Romo wont make every game. You knew the problem, you looked at the problem, you failed to solve the problem. Big issue.

Tony has taken a beating over his career; not David Carr bad, but bad.

He has had two broken collar bones, broken ribs, cracked vertebrae, ruptured disks, punctured lungs, Brittany Spears crabs and forced to have Free Reign on his iPod so please his line.

The question is at what point does all this become less important than the quality of life? He is really going to suffer as he gets older.

When he decides it's time and that's not coming anytime soon
The back will be there to remind him of his days in the nfl
The collarbone is not a big deal
Happens to many people not playing football and has no long term ramifications

After game 1 he needed a pain shot in the back to knock the inflammation down, after game 2 he has a broken collar bone. He is 35 and has taken more than his share of beatings in his younger years. His collarbone will be even weaker than before and his mobility has suffered greatly. If he comes back this year he'll likely be injured again and "they" are gunning for him.

It's a pity Jerry didn't make the OL a priority years ago.

Naw, his millions will make him feel better. Besides, he do not strike me as someone who is ready to retire. He looks like he is halfing a lot of fun when he is healthy and playing.

Romo has about 2 years left. He can barley take licks to the back anymore. It would be wise to find his replacement now.

No disrespect to the OP but I absolutely hate this question. It's asked everytime he suffers an injury. Should he have retired in 2010?

It's a broken collarbone, not like he has a broken neck. This is overreaction 101.

LOL he injured his left shoulder. Not his right. Thus there is no reason for him to retire. I think he'll be around till 2018. He's throwing the ball better than he ever has and he's being talked about as an elite QB recently. Thus no way does he hang it up.

Tony has a lot of football left in him, he'll be back. Reminds me of the Parcells comment, after a loss, in a presser years ago, he said, "This game is a killer...it will kill you." something to that effect, anyway. Lesser players would've hung up their cleats long ago.
