So, because it has happened before means its should continue? Shouldn't things be able to change? Shouldn't people evolve? There are countless examples in this country's history about things being the way that "they always have been", evolving and changing for the better.
Tom Paine said:A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong gives it a superficial appearance of being right.
Not arguing that's how the atmosphere is, I agree with you. But it shouldn't be. You don't have to be an SOB to be a tough dude, and you don't have to be openly racist in the workplace to be considered "mean". Whether you like it or not, the NFL is a business, it's a job, and the players are employees. Plenty of players work their tails off to get to this point, and I doubt a good amount of them that want distractions like this around them when they're trying to support a family and work. And in no way, shape, or form is it okay for a business(worth multiples of hundreds of millions) to allow this to continue. Regardless if it used to be "acceptable" or not. It's allowed to work this way because no one wants to
The way I see it, if they don't want to get along with their fellow employees they can look for another job. Better yet, let the "mean" ones join the military, make 1/20 the salary they currently do, and let them do a few tours to see how mean they really are. It's not hard to be mean when you're 300 pounds and you've never been held accountable for your actions.
Yes you're taught how to handle a bully, when you're an adolescent. These are full-grown adults and their behavior is inexcusable.
That attitude doesn't just resonate in the locker room, it carries over to their personal life and social atmospheres. It's 2014, if you can't come to work and act like a man then there's the door, don't let it hit you in the *** on the way out.
Yeah - and all the science behind dealing with bullies suggest that macho approach doesn't really work.
But I know from various other discussions that your opinions pretty much ignore science.
I have. They sound like a friend that was betrayed and painted as the boogey-man and made the scapegoat for the whole situation, which was obviously a problem for Martin long before he met Incognito. If Martin couldn't handle the ribbing from teammates, how is he to be counted on to stand up to opponents? Football is as much a mental battle as a physical one.
You go for the law of talon? an eye for an eye; a tooth for a tooth?
It's been detailed that Martin felt trapped because the coaches and other players participated in the activity. It was a dysfunctional situation to say the least.
What I am going to guess is that they recommend institutional reform and change the environment such that Martin would have an outlet beyond ending his own life or leaving the organization.
So, because it has happened before means its should continue? Shouldn't things be able to change?
all of the psycoticological bs from the Dr. Spock school of thought is just that.... crap!
Who would have thought that a thread for an average tackle would last ten pages. Oye!

Coach... singular... one. And a lower level one at that. The very document you are espousing said that the head coach had no idea.
He's not racist. Even his teamates said so. He used the same "racial slur" that they use and being on the inside of their culture, the only ones who took offense to it were outsiders. ... and Martin
I know for a personal fact it does... You don't need to know the story but all the psycoticological bs from the Dr. Spock school of thought is just that.... crap!
The to top it off saying that a person should not stand up aginst a bully but go tell on them as if they will fly in a locker room.
I don't think so but believe as you choose. I find it funny myself. Martin is just as guilty given the text and in some ways worse as he lies about not know where the story came from. Never telling incognito in any of the messages that he does not care for the comments he has made and to make matter worse he also engages in the conversation being crud but oh no he is being bullied and cant deal with it mentally and this is a guy people would want on this team. You guys are too funny. The to top it off saying that a person should not stand up aginst a bully but go tell on them as if they will fly in a locker room, only thing that will do is isolate that player from others because they will not want to deal with him out of fear he will go and tell coach on them.
Flying athletes.................... Now there's a topic we can sink our teeth into.
You paint a broad brush based oin nothing. I will say that this type of attitude is the same in regards to crime in low income neighborhoods. Don't snitch...
It's mindnumbingly stupid.
Really? Incognito is gone. Martin has a J.O.B. And word has it the team won't miss Incognito all that much.lol, If people think having some guy telling on them is going to work out with teammates they have another thing coming.
I have yet to hear any player in the history of the NFL do what Martin has done nor have I ever heard of an NFL player being bullied.
what fans and media going to tip toe around Martin out of fear he could get offended. LOL
