The crowds have been fine this year. the panthers and seahawks crowds were terrible, flat terrible. That is the way it is here though. Fans of sports in this part of the country are nothing like the fans in the northeast. But they are similar to the ones in the west and southeast.

The crowds here are excellent for divisional games or games that are hyped up. The falcons crowd was excellent, the gaints crowd was excellent and same thing against the skins.

Any game played here at noon will have a bad crowd, its always been that way from my experience and from talking to people about it.

picked out this bit because again its points i can relate to from my experiance at celtic park. firstly the opposition plays a massive part in what kind of crowd interaction you are going to get. the crowd are obviously going to be more up for a game against the skins than they are against seattle in the same way that celtic park when we play hamilton is like a morgue but on a european night is one of the most amazing atmospheres in sport. its just human nature that you're going to be more excited about a close game against either a rival or a really good team than someone you fully expect to beat comfortably.

your second point about the noon kick offs i can also relate to and feel ties in loosely with what i said earlier about the price of beer in the stadium. obviously i haven't yet been to a cowboys game but certainly over here a majority of fans will go the pubs for some drinks before the game which helps generate noise, i know i sing a hell of a lot more when i've had a few beers! with the earlier kick off times people have less opportunity to get a drink before the game and therefor arrive at the stadium soberer and more restrained. i know there is obviously a different culture in texas to scotland and the restricted drinking time might not be the issue there but over here the atmosphere at celtic v rangers games has become a lot worse for that very reason since they insisted on the majority of these games kicking off at half past twelve on sunday afternoons, co-incidentally when the pubs open on a sunday.

live in Atlanta awhile and you see the same thing--laid back fans who really do not go the extra mile to be the '12th man' on the field

Phil Simms on a radio interview tonight...

Quote..."Dallas has the biggest and best stadium with the largest fan base in the NFL, but they are the only team in the NFL without a home field advantage."

Those of you who live in Dallas and are season ticket holders can probably attest to the validity of this, but I think the general consensus is we have a wine and cheese crowd that will never be confused with "intimidating."

I'm also curious as to the difference between Cowboy Stadium and Texas Stadium as far as noise.

Ohhh, i wonder how fans are going to react to that;

The main reason there is not more noise is due to the fact of the type of Fans that can afford to go to Cowboy Games. The Rowdy loud obnocious fans like myself can't really afford to go because of Ticket Prices. They get the ones that have more money and enjoy eating Caviar. Excuse me but it's just the plain truth.

No its not. I dont doubt that you may be unable right now to buy tickets, they are expensive.

But there are many of us who plan for it all year and are not caviar eating ritzy people. I dont even drink beer at games. I am there for the football.

I make as much noise as I can, as do many. There are just so many people there who treat it like a restaraunt, the middle aged parents. They sapp the energy. But I would say at least 50 to 60% are rabbid fans into the games every move.

Money plays a role I am sure, but I dont think that tells the story.

He is wrong. We have home field advantage everywhere we go! :laugh2:

It's funny that you say that, because if you go over to the Giants board, they are scared to death that the Meadowlands is going to be crawling with Cowboys fans this Sunday.

They readily admit that they're going to lose much of their "homefield" advantage this weekend because so many Cowboys fans will be at the game and will be louder and more into it than their fans.

In fact, read this thread and tell me if it doesn't sound oddly familiar to what you hear over here.

How is the tailgating there? At Arrow Head Stadium people are there 3 - 4 hours before the game getting their drink on, having fun. Even with the horrible teams they are fielding it is still a fun atmosphere. In the '90's it was a truly crazy place to watch a game. Well educated fans making noise at the right times. It's hard to judge from TV but I would think 90,000 fans should provide a home field advantage.

The year Dallas won only one game was the year I made my only trek from Virginia to Texas to see the game against Atlanta with some friends. When a waitress asked us what brought us all the way from Virginia to Texas, we told her we had come to see the Dallas Cowboys.

Her sarcastic response was, "Why?"

While it may be true that the Cowboys do not have a real home field advantage, whether it's due to wealthy, laid back ticket holders or fans that were simply spoiled over 17 consecutive years of winning, there is another side to that field advantage thing.

Because Dallas Is America's Team and DOES have the largest fanbase in the NFL, fans who love the Cowboys and will never get to Texas to see them flock to stadiums across the country with real blue-collar enthusiasm, and those fans give Dallas an advantage on the road that few other teams enjoy anywhere away from their homes.

They said the crowd noise at the Saints/Patriots game reached 129 decibels, the sound of a jackhammer, so they must REALLY still be pissed about Katrina and their winning streak.

I've been to the Super Dome. It's very conducive to noise. Texas Stadium was not. I haven't yet been to the new stadium, but considering the size of it, I have a feeling it isn't either. Cowboys stadium is almost 30% larger than the Super Dome and it's far more open. (not to mention the retractable roof and it's sound dampening attributes)

It's always pretty loud in my section.

I can't speak for Simms in his broadcast booth, which by the way is enclosed entirely in glass, but it's always seemed appropriately loud to me.

I've never felt out of place yelling or standing up and urging others to yell.

It doesn't help that the announcing is pitiful! There could be so much more done to get the crowd involved but we are stuck with cheesy old songs and nah nah nah nah nah nah.......charge. It's an embarrassment! Get creative. Use the video boards and ribbons more effectively. Come up with something that is uniquely Cowboys like a chant or fight song. Something along the lines of what the packers have but not a knock off. There are hundreds of people who make big bucks for the organization. I'm sure a couple of them are college educated, maybe one of them can think of something!

I've discussed this before in this forum - I still think they should market cowbells, painted up white with big blue Cowboys stars and give them out free to say the first several thousand people (like bat day in baseball). Sell the rest in the shops and when "We need more Cowbell" flashes on the videoboard, the crowd goes crazy ringing their bells! ;)

I don't know about you but I'd get me one. I might even make my own and bring it to the next game I go to...

The people who upset me the most is our endzone fans.

I can give a pass to someone who sits up in the upper deck but those people in the End Zones absolutely HAVE to get loud in order for us to get it rocking.

I've been to a few games at Texas Stadium and yeah...the fans can get loud at times, but for the most part, they sit on their hands. Some even looked at us oddly when we'd get up and yell. If we stood, they'd tell us to sit down b/c they can't see...stuff like that.

We went to the game @Denver this year...now their fans, their stadium was *LOUD* and rocking. I've never heard it *THAT* Loud in Dallas

see this is the reason I defend the crowd here. KC always gets sold as this great crowd. The reality is they can barely sell out their stadium. Last year they had 20.000 people at their last two games.

Im sorry but you cant be on the list of great home stadiums if that is all you can produce.

Dallas has some games like carolina where the crowd is just sapped and not into it, but never like what goes on in miami, kc, san diego, oakland, cincy..etc...

that is why it is wrong of simms to say what he said if he did.

How many games have you attended at Arrow Head? It is true they are a horrible team and crowds are down, but last year was the exception to the rule. Generally speaking it is the loudest stadium I have ever been in. And more than that they know when to be loud. The same can not be said of Dallas as far as I can tell from TV. When we are on defense I can still here the opposing QB call the play and and the snap count. That just does not happen in KC.

I guess it's because we have so many fans around the globe that every away game is basically a home game for us. So when we play at home we don't really have an advantage compared to our away games.

None, but i would like to. I wasnt commenting on noise, I dont think it should even be considered when you cant fill your stadium. Thats where they are at right now. So to compare them to Dallas is wrong.

on the flip side how many games have you been to here?

You were joking? I thought you were serious.. I think it's a very legit point. I know some will get pissy, but they can adjust their little underwear.. and stop crying.

If that stadium gets loud - please, tell me when - show me a video, show me a down. I see crucial 3rd downs, I see players waving arms, hell - I've read about them using the massive video screen to get the noise loud - and it not once got 1/2 loud as the Saints stadium got.

Get defensive if you will - but it's a fact. Our stadium is not loud.

have not made it to the new stadium. Made it to the old one 4 times.

The landlord for my business has season tickets for the Chiefs. I love pro football and go to any game I can. Saw about 15 games in the Meadowlands when I lived in NJ. It was not half as loud as Arrow Head, at least in my experiences. Arrow Head is a great place to watch a game. There are plenty of regular posters from my area that I am sure will agree.

P.S. If you have some extra tickets laying around I will be happy to make the drive.
