that HOF coach did a hell of a job this year. you'd think he'd have earned a measure of respect, not that he had to.

Been to the super bowl, the AFCCG, taken three different teams from pieces of crap to playoffs....but that's about it.

It's the shiny toy syndrome. some Cowboy fans are just jealous of the Skins offseason escapades, without ever really taking into account the history of the thing. They'll get it come regular season. And I'm sure then they'll laugh along with us - but they won't deserve to - chicken littles.....

Two factions here, those who are jealous of the Skins eager activity, and admit it. And those who are in denial who make themselves feel better by trying to convince themselves and others that the Skins are not getting any better.

Am I jealous? To an extent. No for the particular players or contracts, but just jealous of the Skins eager activity and relentless attempts to go out and get what they think they need to get better.

One thing I am not is in denial. I am not afraid to admit that I admire their eager activity to improve as much as I hate to see it. Just because we deny it, doesn't mean it isn't true.

Difference is, it's starting to work out for them........
They have been doing this for 6 years now, and where has it gotten them since then?

Not very far. No need to worry. It's a vicious cycle the team puts their fans through.

IS that the best you can do?

pretty lame if you ask me.:laugh2:

we can call them "lame" all we want but so far all *I* hear and see is us keeping onto the hope that all the spending danny is doing will bring them down.

every year there's a lot of cowboy fans harping THIS WILL BE THE YEAR it caves in on them and every year they sign top FA's out there.

us? well, we're going to replace larry allen with some kaiser dude who's one of the "sleepers" of free agency. and if we sign TO, great. can he block?

TO is sexy and controversy, but even if we went back in time and plucked jerry rice, tim brown, michael irvin AND TO to be on the field all at once, it won't matter cause drew will be running for his life AGAIN simply because we can't seem to address the OL like bill KNOWS we must FOR his "boy" to have a chance in hell.

laugh it up at the skins and keep saying it's gonna catch up to them. so far it doesn't seem to be the case and we're busy trying to get a consoliation prize of either sleeper FA's, or take solace in the skins eventual pain that looks to be more smoke than problems.

they didn't spend much money last year, sorry, there is no correlation here

It's not always the approach used to accomplish a goal that matters, but the end result. No matter how they are choosing to get to that goal, it seems to be starting to work, as much as I hate to say it.

nothing to be honest...

hey I was all for getting Parcells when we did, but after 3yrs of seeing him I am thinking it might not have been such a great move...he's done a good job with the draft (J Jones, Witten, Ware, Spears, Canty, Newman, James to name a few) and an average job with free agency, but I think he's put together a lousy coaching staff and has done at best a mediocre coaching job of the talent that is here...he definitely hasnt earned the kind of paycheck Jones is paying him IMO

and we've not been doing it for 6 years and have how many playoff appearances (not wins) in that timeframe?

this is the catch 22 jones built by his own ego and this is the price we all have to pay for that. i do fully think jones has shown he can and will let a coach coach and keep his ego at bay. HOWEVER, if he were to fire the tuna, the controversy would start again. we have no choice to but finish this ride as painful as it may be and hope when bill is done playing "but i can still coach" we'll start our VALID rebuilding path, not some hybrid mix up of junk we've got now.

Granted, but we have been doing it the opposite way for six years, where has it gotten us. Ultimately, in 2005, where they have gotten is a sweep on us and a playoff win. People on these boards hate the Commanders, and I do as well. But, they are very active and seem dead set on winning by all means possible. I'm not sure what we are planning on doing yet.

I'm not in denial, in fact, I'm not even worrying about the Skins, they need to sign every free agent, and even overspend in doing so, because they can't and dont' have the means to draft worth a crap, while we can draft, improving a team can come in many ways, and one of them is building from the draft, which I've already stated, and another is building from within, which is developing, and retaining your own stars, the skins can't do that either with their cap situation, they HAVE to go out and sign people, because they have no draft picks to develop players to fill holes, so they have to go out and sign people to fill holes...

we're building through the draft, such as the last 4 Super Bowl winners Baltimore, Tampa Bay, NEw England, and Pittsburgh did, and frankly, I'm quite content with that strategy, and it seems to be paying off, look at our last draft class, and what that yielded for us, not to mention the many young veterans from the previous 2 drafts...

and this free agent class is weak, I'd rather not tie up all our future cap in mediocre free agents, so that when a strong class of free agents comes along, we will have cap space to spend, and won't have to worry about cap ramifications

You forgot the third faction. The realists who know that this way of doing things has never worked, and doubt that the Skins are gonna be the ones to buck that trend. History is on our side. What have you got?

So, you'd be happy as long as the Cowboys were doing something, no matter how trivial?

Ridiculous assertion.

We drafted like *** for 4 years. Those can't be factors in discussing the Cowboys progress and method for building a team, just as Spurrier's failure's have nothing to do with Gibbs'.

History is on our side, as Cowboys fans?
I don't know if I would say that. It hasn't worked for them yet, but what have we done on the field in the last six years? The most recent history, that being 2005, shows us that the Skins have started to turn the tables a bit. Let's not forget, Gibbs has only been there two years, not six.
