I'd listen more to another source - not the author of God's Coach.
Lost credibility with that statement. The team has made adjustments if you've been paying attention. They just have been struggling with a inept backup in Weeden and a QB in Cassel that's only been with the team for a few weeks. Combine that with an inexplicable lack of turnovers and you see the results. I knows it's much easier for fans to start blaming folks but it's not that simple and smart fans understand that.
Smart doesn't equal taking something obvious like injuries and moving forward. There are only a small group of teams with franchise QBs. The rest of the league deals with the leftovers. Backups come in every year and many win games. Weeden won as a starter in Cleveland and has been in our system 2 years...taking many practice snaps last year because Tony got rest days. Cassell was a Pro Bowler as a starter in KC in 2010 and won games as a backup. We haven't had a backup win a game in 5 YEARS. That's crazy. Garrett outlier season was last year when we got lucky and had a healthy Romo for a majority of games. The NY Jets are 5-3 with a rookie head coach and the pupu platter of Fitpatrick/Geno Smith. Are they better than our backups? Not really. They just have a better game plan. Garrett had trouble adjusting before last year and the same thing is rearing its head this year.
I honestly believe everyone expects it to be close with Romo out... Injuries are not an excuse. PIT is winning games with their 3rd string QB. We should be too.

Very interesting thoughts. So, having read what you just wrote, I wonder (just wondering..), is it the backup QBs or is it more system related? As much as we all like to pound on Weeden and Casell, bottom line is they have both at least won elsewhere. I realize that's not saying much but when measured against an 0-3 Weeden followed by an 0-3 Cassell it does make a person wonder.

To be brutally honest - I think the entire organization got a pass from Tony during those 8-8 years because it's pretty apparent that those were 4-12 teams and if that's really the case we would've been two years into a new coaching regime by now.
That being said, the personnel department has done a pretty good job recently and Jerry is slowing his roll. Garrett has shown he can inspire a 12-4 team. Now we have to see if he can turn around a 2-6 team without losing it.
The Cowboys have lost six in a row since losing Tony Romo. Prior to this season, the Cowboys' last six-game losing streak was in 1989, Troy Aikman's rookie season.
I'm honestly curious what Tony Romo would've been able to do with a Dave Campo coached team.
Captain Clap has gotten comfortable. He knows he'll get another pass, there's no fear of losing his job.
Ok call me stupid if you want but what does the term "stepford" mean?
Skip is right. Garrett is getting a pass because of Tony being out and that's just not right. No coach should get a pass for making no adjustments, to their scheme and their game plan, not preparing their team and getting them ready to play against a division rival, and your team inexplicably finding a way to give the last three games away. That is or should be unacceptable.
Because the Steelers don't rely on Ben to the point where their entire team doesn't function anymore when he goes down. It's insane to think almost every aspect of this team sucks with Romo gone. Like what are we going to do in 3-4 years?
