Snow White

That for sure isn’t there roots though lol. The Disney we know and love had to evolve and it had trial and error. They’re adapting with the world they can’t stay in 1957.
5 of their first 6 full length movie releases say they were a family orientated company. They are tone deaf and losing money because of it. I celebrate every flop they make, it is well deserved.

Snow White
Pinocchio
Fantasia
Dumbo
Bambi

They aren't tone deaf. They are adapting to the youth of 2025 not 1937. Its just a different time. I get that frustrates you but man this stuff isn't for us. Its for the children. LIke I told another poster their flops make 500 million dollars lol.

Not really musicals but the last ones I liked was Jessica Lange in the American Horror series singing Life on Mars and the name game song.

But I will admit my old school gay side still loves the Sound of Music.
Some of those American Horror series did have some good musical scenes and I hate musicals.

The only musical I've ever liked was the Buffy episode Once More, with Feeling.

I believe that one should have won an Emmy...The episode Hush got one, and rightfully so. But this was also a great and deep episode.

The stupidity of him the Coyote spending so much money to buy things to catch the road runner instead of just using the money to buy food.
Chuck Jones did try explain why Wile E. Coyote is so obsessed with wanting to eat the Road Runner at the end of the Zip Zip Hurray! short, they're a buffet of flavors to a coyote.

Not that I was part of the target audience, but it probably does a film no good when you hear all the bad press/stories ~a year out from when it's released. Some rage bait, but others just showing there's issues with the film and reshoots never usually go well.

Disney, IMO is in a weird position. When Iger left, they had a shift towards streaming, and getting Disney+ going. Then the board doesn't like the direction, brings Iger back which then shifts the short and long term views again. D+ series being confusing if they had to be watched to follow along or simply stand alone, some bad flops etc..
Their can't miss Marvel movies had a rough stretch after Endgame, with IMO their biggest hits being due to nostalgia with Spiderman and then Deadpool. Then there was Thor, and Dr. Strange which IMO sucked but got $$$ simply due to it being a marvel movie right after Endgame.
Most of the OG marvel stars are gone, and I'm sure Iger gave a small island of cash to RDJ to come back, but we are getting OT.

I have kids, so I watch kid movies. Pixar used to be a can't miss production when I was growing up, before and after Disney acquired them. But they had some misses and disappointments recently. Could blame the 2020 virus, but just some films didn't have that "pixar" quality imo.
Seemed like for a while Disney and Pixar were in no rush to make sequels, only when it made sense.
Some of their new IPs didn't do so well, so either by design or rushed they are making some sequels again. Moana 2 definitely had the feel of a mini TV series spun into a movie.

This whole live remake of cartoons to me has zero interest to me to watch, even though as a kid I watched them. I see a Lilo and Stitch movie is coming out... Still love the cartoon, first movie anyways, but can't say I'll be taking the kids out to the movies for that. Just wait for it on D+, if that.
Nothing to do with forbidden topics, but there's the original, I don't care to see a live action with CG of the ~same movie.

The wizard of Oz was 30 years old when I started watching it as a kid. Classics are classics at any time.
Well the funny thing about that is that's the 8th adaption of that story. The most famous adaption is the 8th one. Which is kind of my point. Things evolve. I've never seen the 1908 version of it so who knows maybe its better....

To me, it comes down to a few things:

A) Money
Of course, companies like Disney want to make money, but I’m more alluding to greed. Companies, in any industry, are pushing more and more product while the quality continues to slip. The quality-over-quantity issue is real, and it feels like studios are rushing to capitalize on the success of previous hits. Just look at the comic superhero fatigue. They made a ton of money on those movies, but at this point, they’re just flinging them out like a guy sitting at a strip club rail, tossing out dollar bills. It’s a money grab at this point.

B) Hollywood is out of ideas
Pretty self-explanatory. This has been happening for a while now. Reboots and remakes are taking over because original concepts are getting rarer. The entertainment industry has cornered itself with saturation and run out of ideas. That’s why everything under the sun is getting rebooted (though I’m still waiting for my ThunderCats movie lol). Some of these reboots suck, and some aren't bad. The Lion King (1994) is in my list of all-time favorites. I watched the 2019 remake, and while it wasn’t bad, it lacked the pizazz of the original. It stuck fairly close to the story but leaned too heavily on CGI and took out all those fantastic one-liners.

C) Lack of box-office interest
Do people even care about going to the theater anymore? I feel like all these streaming services have kind of ruined that appeal. Streaming has definitely changed the game. People are more likely to wait for things to hit streaming rather than shell out for tickets, especially with the current prices. If a movie doesn't appeal enough to get people to leave the house, they’ll just wait until some streaming service snatches it up. I remember being a kid, and movies were huge. We all anticipated the big summer blockbuster, and when it dropped, it was the first thing on our weekend agenda. That just doesn’t feel like a thing anymore, especially after Covid.

You ain't kidding! Mine are blowing their winter coats right now. Between the hair and the spring mud it's a true labor of love.
I feel you!! I have 2 Husky dogs, and going through the same thing. Vacuuming is a lifestyle.

From what I understand, German Shepherd hair is that super fine type of dog hair, which makes it tougher to clean up. I did car detailing my senior year of high school, and I remember customers rolling through with that fine dog hair (like a Lab’s) in the back of their Subaru wagons... and man, that was brutal to vacuum. It could even weave its way into the fabric of the seats. lol

At least with a Husky, it clumps together when it falls off and is generally pretty easy to vacuum.

I agree On all 3 accounts. Especially at box office interest. People like to credit these films being full of agenda as to a reason why films aren’t doing as well. Streaming is killing box office sales. Bad films have made money in the past. Box office sales are down but production costs are increasing. Theaters need to adapt. I think it’s inevitable the theater business is eventually gonna get weeded out. Not sure when but it’s gonna happen. They can slow the death down though if they adapt and make the movie going experience more affordable and enjoyable.

And that's the thing. Whether we like their films or not its the #1 studio in the world. And its not close. So do they have a incentive to change?

And is that's what's being discussed? They changed the story of Snow White? All I heard about was some reshoots similar to Captain America.
I don't care if they change or not. I exercise my right not to watch anything I think will not entertain me. Disney ruined Star Wars. But I still see "the Force Awakens" playing on cable every day 5 times a day.

You do. I wasn’t insinuating you don’t have the right not to watch lol. I’m saying exactly that lol. I don’t for sure I don’t know if I will ever watch this movie.

As far as Star Wars I honestly didn’t like the ones before Disney came a long lol. I hate episode 2 lol.

The outercoat is the worst to clean up. It does what you describe. Burrows itself into fabric and lays flat on surfaces making it hard to get up. Fortunately though the outercoat doesn't shed near as much as the undercoat, which they completely shed and regrow twice a year. That stuffy is fluffy and clumpy. It sweeps up and vacuums up fairly easily, but it does defy gravity at times and can be seen floating through the air like an apparition caught between two worlds.

My lab friend always gets leather seats in her car just because of the lab hair.

Just a short note and I do not care who disagrees...

Pibbles

House Hippos

Love Bugs

Snuggle Buddies

Nanny dogs

Pitties

Are the best.

I think the biggest problem with Snow White is the fact that Rachel Ziegler crapped all over the original, in interviews. Then when Peter Dinklage said Disney was #*@&'+$ backwards in its portrayal of people with dwarfism, stuff hit the fan.
yeah I mean to me that’s just crap but I’m sure it turned some people away. Ziegler better watch it before she is relegated to just Tubi movies.

I haven't gone in years. To be honest even pre virus thingy it got old going to watch a movie and idiots are screaming non stop during horror movies or the people in front of you pull their phone out on 90% brightness.

I have no issue waiting for it to be rented or free. It's not a money thing, more of a I don't want to be surrounded by strangers watching a movie any more.
I can wait 6 months to watch the big blockbuster. For Dr. Doom, I can wait to stream it

My GSD has been gone for more than 10 years, and I still find hairs every so often. German Shepherd hairs are fine, but they're also coarse, so they get stuck in fabric and stuff, and they're hard to pull out, like porcupine barbs.
