What was the story with NFL Europe? If NFL Europe couldn't be supported what makes Goodell think that a NFL franchise would work on a long term basis.People are real good about going to see something that rarely comes to town, going to see something that is there on a regular basis is another matter.Especially if that expansion team morphs into a perpetual bottom dweller.I think an unsuccessful football team would have little success creating revenue against a successful soccer team in the European market.

this is very true. obviously i have a bigger interest than most folk over here in the game. the vast majority of people who like the game already have a team who they have an attatchment to and i don't think you would have enough people switching their alleigances. certainly i would never turn my back on the cowboys for a london based franchise, that may admitadly have something to do with my political beliefs regarding scottish independance and refusal to support anything british but the same could be said for a lot of scots, welsh and irish so its something that is relevant to an expansion team.
on top of that if celtic are ever playing at the same time as the cowboys i will watch celtic every time without giving it any real thought as i'm a celtic fan first and foremost. its what my grandfather was, my dad was and its in my blood. an nfl expansion team just isn't going to have that same emotional attatchment and people who would go to games are likely to have a "proper" team who they support and then the nfl team are the second team meaning at least to begin with you have an inconsistant fan base who will regularly miss games if it clashes with their team playing soccer.

You know that the NFL will never go outside Wembley Stadium when in the UK.
they have talked about playing in manchester, cardiff and edinburgh so its something that has at least been spoken of. if they were contemplating edinburgh then theres a good chance they would have a game at hampden (national football stadium) in glasgow as thats where the scottish claymores played in nfl europe. personally i'd rather see them play in edinburgh as murrayfield (the national rugby stadium) is a far better stadium with a bigger capacity. ideally i'd love to see the cowboys play at celtic park but i really can't see that due to the damage it would do to the playing surface in the middle of the season.
