If this was the decision they were going to make, why wasn't it done months ago?

Why wasn't the player given the best chance for a new deal elsewhere?

Why didn't the team free up the cap space when they really needed it most?

Why didn't they do it when the other top receivers were available?

Does anyone in that building know what they're doing?

Jordy Nelson. Better player in every way. Signed for peanuts in Oakland.

Yeah, "we're just like the Patriots!"

:lmao:
yes our plan and the way we run the offense is very similar we run 2-3 TE sets a lot and run a lot from the slot..you can be a smartazz all you want its what they have been moving too since Romo Left...we have 3 slot WR now Bease, Switzer, and Thompson very similar to the way Edelmen, Amendola, and the other short route running guys you never heard of run over there..they unitlize the backs out in routes etc..its a compressed Offense and its why they let Cooks go..he didnt fit the philosophy so letting dez go is furthering this plan and Hurns will be fine stop gapping the NEW WRs we bring in in the draft..

Jordy nelson not heads and tails better One he wasn't traded, two wasn't retained by a team that knows he was AR favorite WR, 3 his age and injurys of late have caught up to him, and he was offered a chance to take pay cut, sound familiar? he got 7mil and 1 yr deal, thats not a very confident new team as well..so id say it the same vs heads and tails better. 7mil isn't peaanuts that would be the 840k vet minimum..

think of it how you want but i see there really wasn't a good option toreplace Dez early on and the FO wasn't 100 % on letting him go, it just all came to ahead a bit late but IMO we didnt miss out on better WR that could replace dez..it will be by comitte type offense and we have those guys and the addition of a 2rd WR like Chark, Miller, Sutton, or Kirk will be just fine..maybe keep developing Brown..its the PLan..

Nelson had 6 touchdowns in 5 games before the Packers went to a "no quarterback offense".

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/N/NelsJo00/gamelog/2017/

And he's had over 1250 yards and 14 touchdowns the year before. But again, this is to be expected by Cowboys fans. We didn't sign him so he's not that good...
this didnt effect a guy like Hopkins did it, that guy is truly a top 5 WR that hasn't had a QB most of his career he a guy who actually elevates his QB instead of Vice Versa.... thats the difference,..no excuses for real elite WR, Dez and nelson and other are no longer Elite, now just good players and when their teams start letting them go , its laughable with our QB situation and line that we had last season you think any could do better than Dez should that issue pop its head back up.. thats the point..begging for nelson as seemingly upgrade say over Hurns or others in the same money market, is splitting hairs..

Of course you do.

You see "plans" where none exist, and excuses at every turn.

If they had kept Dez, he would still be great, go Cowboys!

If they cut him? He's washed up! Go Cowboys!

It's ridiculous.

Bull****. Hurns' numbers have never been anywhere close to the same level.

But he wears the star now so some people have to try to prop him up as something he's not.

So they feel better.

Things might make more sense, if and when that were to happen.

On the other hand, did you just give Seattle negotiation leverage for draft picks?

It would have looked better had the transactions happened simultaneously, right?

That would have been the sign of a true "plan."

Why doesn't Garret work on his?
Why is Dez Bryant the sacrificial lamb and the only guy held accountable?
Why is this even debatable? Dez cooked his own goose. Did you scream about Dez numbers last year?
When does Garrett arrive at work and when does he leave? Please I know you love to argue but this
was what I bet 90% of the board was calling for. now its Jones is an idoit and Dez is the sacrifice.
Looking for a fight

You'll know the plan when you know the plan. Just like you knew Dez was getting cut when he got cut. The front office doesn't owe us anything more than a Lombardi and I have seen more movement towards building that type of climate in the last 24 hours than I have seen in the last 20 plus years.

The only thing I'm curious about is had Hurns not become available would Dez' fate had still been sealed?

It probably would have increased Dallas' interest in Maclin or the Cowboys would have used their first-round pick on a receiver (still could) and then cut Dez. The goal seems to have been to simply find any receiver who can be a starter so that they could cut Dez since his production and attitude did not equal what he was set to make or any lower salary that could have been negotiated.

I'm not a fan of that plan because I don't believe in releasing starters until you're sure you have someone at least equal or preferably better, but the Cowboys apparently were willing to take that risk.

I don't get happy about little blips like this... I just like to joust a little.. But, while you and some others still won't appreciate this perspective, we did get better yesterday.

Things that make me happy come with rings & trophies.

No, we didn't "get better". Not in any way.

Not when we're now forced to prop up the likes of Allen Hurns.

LOOK BRO!! quit trolling read the context someone posted the last few years of hurns number and they are the same as DEZ last few years numbers SO Listen close, Hurns output if they are where dez has been the last 3 seasons well isn't that the same, we aren't missing much if hurns gets 69 catches 8-900 yards and 5-8 TDs.. seriously real all of it before questioning what i wrote..Hurns of course hasn't had the career dez had but the Dez of late and Hurns of now are the same player for 40% of the salary..Got it?
