Someone enlighten me to "the plan"?

The timing makes very little, if any, difference for the Cowboys. The timing is extremely critical for Brian, however. If he had been released earlier, the market would have been more open for him to land a new spot.
Who the hell is Brian?
Dez's agent? ***?

@stasheroo looks like you added bbcode.

Still insisting on the excuse narrative I see. And you call me blind. Anywho Dez hasn't been playing at a pro bowl level for 3 years and there is no reason to believe that he would suddenly mesh with Dak.

They negotiated with Hurns, Thompson, and Watkins that we know of. The leverage of an agent knowing the team is desperate for WR in the wake of cutting Dez Bryant should be self evident. There is your blindness at work again.

All of which could have been done weeks ago. They could have cut Dez the moment they made their other moves. They didn't. It was not dependent on any "leverage". You know it and so do I. They could have concluded their business and released him then. As happens all the time in this league. Go ask Michael Crabtree. But yeah, "leverage"..

Are you denying that you are emotional about the Cowboys? You keep trying to talk around it while never addressing it head on. I also recall you calling me Spock when recommending dispassionate review.

I did. According to you, you're the only unemotional guy in this world. He must be your idol.

I never said that I was unemotional. I just don't revolve everything around them. You did what? You claiming you are dispassionate in your takes?

A few weeks ago they were negotiating with Hurns and Thompson and was Jerry supposed to fly to Australia and ruin his vacation?

And Dez is going to be fine. There already all kinds of rumblings for his services.

He's supposed to do what's in the best interest of his team, not cater any of it to one player. If he was that worrried about hurt feelings, how could he cut the guy at all?

And Dez is going to be fine. There already all kinds of rumblings for his services.

That still doesn't make it a sound decision.

I think you need to recheck the Nelson - Hurns timeline. Nelson signed with Oakland on Mar 15th Hurns on Mar 23rd.
Good catch on Nelson.

I prefer Hurns by a bit over Nelson. I watch most GB games and Nelson really appeared slower in 2017. Also it seemed that when Rodgers was out Nelson didn't have many catches.

The main thing is that Hurns is 26 and Nelson is 32. Hurns will either remain the same or improve while Nelson is on the decline.

If reports are true and there were trade offers, and you dont extract value. That is bad. I really dont care if Dez is gone, but no "team" advantage in waiting to 4/13/18

And that's my biggest point.

I think losing a top 2 quarterback and going to a guy not up to the job will do that to any receiver.

Or Hurns will get hurt once again, as he is wont to do.

Nelson isn't a long term answer, but neither was Dez. And neither is two year Allen Hurns. Just a capable bridge to get you to that "next guy".

Because cutting him early in FA would have given FA WR leverage and worsened their bargaining position then DEz went on vacation and Jerry wanted to tell Dez in person.

The writing has been on the wall over DEz for a month. There is no indication that Crawford is next.
next year for ty craw write it down.

Agree that Hurns was a bridge player and Nelson would have been also.

There just were not many options for free agent WRs.

They don't need to force the issue like they did when they were dead-set to get a CB and over-paid for Carr.

Maybe but his $7m next year is not that much of an over pay. He generates a lot of pressure even if he cannot finish well and is a stout run defender.

I've been a harsh critic of his, but even I hope that they can work out some sort of a deal for Crawford to stick around. He's a very good team guy to have around but the contract has always been the issue. I think it would be great I feel they could work out a reasonable restructure that allowed him to retire as a Cowboy.

If this was the decision they were going to make, why wasn't it done months ago?

Why wasn't the player given the best chance for a new deal elsewhere?

Why didn't the team free up the cap space when they really needed it most?

Why didn't they do it when the other top receivers were available?

Does anyone in that building know what they're doing?

:banghead:
The plan????? You really think there is a plan????:lmao2::lmao::laugh::lmao::lmao2:

I don't know but hopefully they intend to draft the best receiver available with their first pick. Hurns and Williams does not give me any confidence

I think he's average at best and might be the worst contract in team history.

The plan will be DJ CHARK!
Oh cool! A younger 2nd coming of Ted Ginn. No matter if they can actually catch as long as they run really fast. It'll almost be like having Al Davis running the team but with Jerry's familiar, friendly face!
