I'm as hardcore Dallas Cowboys as anyone I've ever met in my lifetime. And I can't stand Deion Sanders. Sue me.

He'll always be a Dallas Cowboy in my opinion because he loved being a star amongst stars... Deion Sanders was dynamic until the turf toe injuries. Prime Time helped Dallas win more than his share of football games.

Deion left Dallas to continue the Deion show in Washington. Then, he went to television, and then went to the Ravens.

Deion was a Falcon- and stood there with the 49'ers and said their new stadium was his house. Then, Deion was a 49'er. Then , he was a Cowboy. Then, he was a Commander. Then, he was Raven.

Do you really think Deion would be spending so much time with the Cowboys right now if they were 5-11, and the 49'ers were 13-3; or if the Falcons were 13-3? Be honest with yourself, and with the rest of the board when you answer.

Hey, I can respect his stats- and I've said he's a top notch athelete. But, I'm only going on my memories of his tenure in Dallas, and there's a reason why Jerry didn't re-sign him afterwards.

And, I'll acknowledge his stats, but you should be fair and acknowledge that what he did to Terrell Owens after the Atlanta game was a cheap shot just for his own benefit.

T.O. got a huge fine because Deion offered him up as a sacrifice by questioning him on camera, and not helping him to downplay it.

If that is Cowboys blood running through his veins, then the Cowboys blood is blood that causes one Cowboy to sacrifice another for his own benefit.

T.O. just came off of a game where he scored two touchdowns, and the Cowboys got a big win. What does Sanders do? Instead of recognizing that he's still pumped and thinking about the game, Sanders takes a shot to improve his status with the NFL network.

And, for the record, Hall didn't deserve any sympathy; he was the one who initiated the confrontation, and then tattled like a little baby to get the attention off of his failures to contain T.O..

Who cares if Hall lost respect for T.O.? Who cares if T.O. spit in his face? IF Hall hadn't been up in his face, he wouldn't have gotten spit on.

Frankly, I couldn't care less about this stuff. Deion is an idiot, so is Owens, so was Michael Irvin, Erik Williams, Mark Tuinei, ad infinitum. They were also great, passionate football players who gave 100% on the field and helped the Cowboys win championships. I don't care that Owens spit in Hall's face--another idiot--and I don't care that Deion called him on it or that Owens got fined, because this stuff has nothing to do with football. That's all part of the clown show, which is great fodder for Jim Rome but ultimately meaningless.

I may be in the minority, but I can't stand Deion Sanders acting like he's got the keys to Valley Ranch, and that he's one of the most loved Cowboys in our history.

Outside of his first season with the Cowboys, I can't see that he was anything but a highly paid 'bust'- because he spent more time on the sidelines than in the games.

And, I can't stand the way he set T.O. up in 2006 on National Television for his interview when T.O. spit in D'Angelo Hall's face. Deion set T.O. up by quesioning him on national television, and he's the reason T.O. got fined.

He claimed he loved T.O. like a little brother, and then offered him up as a sacrifice for his ratings on the NFL network.

Hall was a crybaby, and Deion helped him distract attention from the fact that T.O. ate his lunch all night.

And, Deion seems to think that he is one of the most loved Cowboys ever- when he gave us one decent year, and got a ring in return for it.

As far as I can see, Dallas doesn't owe him anything- and I wish he'd quit acting like he's a Cowboy- when his pass interference against Irvin knocked us out of the third Super Bowl in a row, and we had to come back the next year.

But for all of his hype, I still see Deion Sanders as a Falcon/49'er who came here and helped for one year-which is probably why he sat on both sides of the fence when he helped D'Angelo Hall cover for the whipping he took at the hands of T.O.

Just a rant. It's the off season.

Im pretty sure that Deion didn't really mean anything about asking him a question, but you have to think to yourself, T.O. answered that question, and look how he answered it.

Deion is a Cowboy at heart. Out of any team Cowboys is the team he love the most and as a fan, that's a real Cowboy:star:

This makes no sense. Had Smith remained healthy, Deion never would have been a Cowboy. Instead, he blows out his heel in Game One, making it imperative that we sign Deion away from the Niners. We may have flirted with the idea of signing Deion before Smith got hurt, but that's as far as it got. Once Smith went down, Deion became a necessity instead of a luxury.

I wouldn't have put it past Jerry... Larry Brown was never a super-star....

Deion may not have started in Dallas, but he is a true Cowboy, and he does have the keys to Valley Ranch, just like Irvin, Emmitt, Aikman, and Daryl Johnston.

Anyone who labels Deion a bust, or loathes him have serious personal issues.
Oh, T.O. did not spit in Hall's face, they were in each other's face yelling and with mouth pieces in yes spit will fly, it was not done intentional as Deangelo cry baby Hall lied and said that it was.

Deion Sanders will NEVER....EVER...be in the same echelon as Irvin, Emmitt and Aikman. Even if he did help us win a SuperBowl. To utter such words is blasphemy. He was nothing more than a hired gun. Period. End of story.

Does that mean Jay Novacheck was just a hired gun as well or James Washington or a Ray Donaldson. Dallas like any team was thrown in to FA and brought in players and we got one of the greatest CB to play the game when we got Deion Sanders

Re: his large contract and the the large signing bonus Jerry gave him.

I have no doubt in my mind that he brought in more revenue for Dallas than what he was paid. He was one of the most marketable players in that generation and I'm sure the rise in merchandise sales, ticket sales, and everything Deion-related more than made up for his contract. With that being said, he was part of our last Super Bowl team. That may not mean as much considering we have multiple world championships, but if you look at the big picture--winning a Super Bowl is pretty damn hard, and the fact that he helped bring us one made him worthy already.

What the hell does FA or being the greatest CB to play the game have anything to do with making Sanders a true Cowboy in the mold of the Triplets or make him any less of a hired gun?

Novacek, while he didn't start with the Cowboys, wasn't a hired gun. He wasn't brought in to "get us over the hump". He made his name and earned his reputation as a Dallas Cowboy.

You mean to tell me you'd put James Washington & Ray Donaldson up there with Aikman, Emmitt & Irvin? How about Woody, Renfro, Rayfield Wright even?

Come on man, ya gotta come at me with something better than that.

I'll tell you one thing though...

Troy Aikman and the Cowboys were never shy of attacking Deion...

Man, those were the days. Dallas didn't care who they were playing against. They weren't scared of anybody.

They are Cowboys plain and simple be it drafted or brought in and they all played big roles in the success of the team. Is Deion like Irvin, Aikman and Smith? No but then few players on the 90's team were. Haley clearly was brought in as a hired gun yet we don't win the championships without him and should not diminish what he brought to the team same for Deion

Very true and Dallas was about the only team in large part because we were extremely balanced in our attack. Dallas could run the ball on you all day or go to the air.

Charles Haley is a perfect example that trumps that hired gun stuff. Haley was clearly a hired gun, already had a reputation before getting here, and had already won 2 Superbowls.

Yet I doubt, very seriously, any tries to claim that Haley wasn't a Cowboy and was nothing more than a hired gun.

No doubt. Dallas went from a bend but don't break defense before Haley to an attacking defense with him.

I like Haley a lot more than I like Deion, but I have the two in a similar category when it comes to the Cowboys. Established FA acquisitions are just not the same as guys we draft and develop, and they're not even the same as non-established guys we see something in and then develop. You might like the players, but hired guns are still hired guns.

A possible exception to this rule might be a player like Roy Williams (WR) who grows up a Cowboy fan, is drafted by another organization, and then moves quickly to correct the situation when he becomes a FA. I have to think some more about this one, though.

With the NFL's current landscape, by your thinking--there is going to be less and less "true" Cowboys.

If T.O., Henry, Adam Jones, Leonard Davis, etc help Dallas win the SB this year, they are all Cowboys in my book.

Very True. These current guys are Cowboys because their contract says they are. :laugh2: If I had my way we would not have FA and teams would be built as they once where for the long haul. That is not the reality and so many players are here today and gone tomorrow. Well at least I'm thankfully to have seen what the NFL once was

The man won a Super Bowl as a Dallas Cowboy.

He lives in Dallas.

He's friends with Irvin, Jerry, Nate, etc.

Deion is a Dallas Cowboy for life.

Exactly. And so far, all indications he will go into the HOF as a Cowboy.
