The FF movies were good. They hit a home run by portraying the team as a dysfunctional family who love and care about each other strongly just like in the comics title. They waned whenever they ventured into cartoony land. Where The Avengers succeeded with a very realistic CGI Hulk, the FF movies squeezed Michael Chiklis into a rock shaped rubber suit. Weird. Ironically, the sequel got the Silver Surfer perfect. Unfortunately they did not do the same with The Devourer of Worlds. (OMG! Here comes the big space cloud! Everyone run! Write the Ultimate Nullifer completely out of the story. Sorry Reed. lol!)

I'm holding my breath waiting on the reboot. The sequel looks like this endeavor will be a severely serious attempt to engage today's audiences. I hope so. One of the things I demand of the reboot is to do Dr. Reed Richards properly. Marvel put super geniuses like Tony Stark and Dr. Banner on screen and showcased their unmatched intelligences--especially for Stark. Marvel has always presented Dr. Richards with an intelligence that eclipses even those two. The first two movies did not come close to showing Richards' brilliance. I have my fingers crossed.

I am not sure how they will pull of the African American Human torch (I mean nothing racial by that statement, I just wonder how they will write it in?? Will him and Sue be step brother/sister??) BTW, I thought they pulled of Reed Richards pretty well in the first two but I agree about Galactus being a bit underwhelming. To each their own.

The black Human Torch will be a risk on the part of the film's producers. The casting may fail but Michael B. Jordan is a fine actor with the acting chops to pull it off. The rest is up to the director to integrate (no pun intended) Jordan's character into the plot seamlessly. Hollywood has twisted casting expectations for nearly a century, for both fictional and real character parts alike. Just one of many examples: How many actresses have played the part of the history's Cleopatra who were Caucasian? lol!

I think you are right. If I recall correctly, Johnny and Sue will be step-siblings.

We do disagree about how Richards' intellect has been portrayed in movies to this point. I think if Robert Downey Jr. and Ioan Gruffudd were placed in the same film together, vocalizing scientific jargon and operating mechanical tech derived from their respective film franchises, Stark would easily eat Richards' lunch.

As a child, I remember how impressed I was with Kirby's visualization of Galactus' worldship alone. Just the worldship he traveled in, mind you, and not his solar system spanning base of operations. It was easily the size of a moon. The closest Hollywood special effect representation I would associate with Kirby's art would be George Lucas's Death Star. That was equally ominous-looking on the big screen in the Star Wars films.

In FF:ROTSS, we had... SPACE CLOUD! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! lmao!

Because it's always been Sony making the movie. They've always been crap.

I think given the chance now, Marvel will make them much, much better. Not only that....he can now appear in other titles. Win for fans and execs alike.

I do agree, many characters deserve a movie or two, though.

I may be wrong, but I think Sony is still doing the stand-alone Spider-Man movies. But their stories will be collaborated with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Spider-Man is now allowed to make appearances in The Avengers movies, as well as other Marvel heroes movies like Captain America: The Civil War. I hope I'm wrong, I want Sony involved in anything to do with Spider-Man only by name. Just pay them, put their logo up in the beginning and that's it.

Also, Sony was planning a bunch of weird one-off movies about other characters in the Spider-man universe, like a Peter Porker or Aunt May movie. As far as I've heard/read, Sony still plans to milk the spidey-cow 'til it bleeds.

Ugh....I really wish Marvel never sold some of their best licenses to Fox and Sony. They have really ruined alot of opportunities for good movies, and have diminished what Marvel is doing now because they don't have a major characters in nearly every Marvel event (Spider-Man, FF and X-Men). I mean, they can't even mention mutants.

No, you're right on that.

And I hope you're also right about Sony's level of involvement.

As it looks now, whoever is cast as the next Spiderman will be quite busy with that role.

The rights went from being virtually worthless to being nearly priceless, Spiderman in particular. It's reported that they sold the rights to Sony in 1999 for just $7 million.

When Marvel sold XMen and Spiderman they were in major financial trouble, they weren't running very well and not even an ounce of how popular they are now. Those two franchises enabled growth of the brand, and then Disney saw the opportunity and jumped in with some cash as well, and now you have kevin Feige running with it.

Tough to lament selling x-men and spiderman brands - doing so got Marvel here.
