Sorry, but I think this video board is ridiculous

Hardly just a means to rag on Jerry.

And it shouldn't be a big deal. The only reason it is a big deal is because Jerry is opening saying he's going to ignore it.

Evidently the league office is the one who determined to begin with the height which the board was set at.

And the league office is also reviewing the matter which is exactly what JJ should be doing.

Waa Waaa

Video board has been hit, BIG FREAKING DEAL.

I'm sick of hearing about this, oh my god.

I thought for sure with TO's, Tank and Pacmans departure it would be the end of this media circus. Boy was I wrong.

Raise it, Lower it, Tear it down. I DO NOT CARE.

I am just SO - SICK - AND - TIRED - OF - HEARING ABOUT IT

You'd think Michael Jackson rose from the grave.

Just wait until Felix Jones has his first off game where he doesn't completely obliterate a team.

He is going to raise it but again this is non sense and the same old people who whine about Jerry over any and every thing. It gets old, this is not a big deal but evidently it is to you and others who if you don't have something to whine about your not happy.

Weren't they installing the wenches and hasn't that been in the plan since before the game?

What they are doing now has nothing to do with what happened during the game.

At least that was what I gathered from one of the other threads.

Ah, yes. Completely disregard the fact that league is reviewing the issue and jump straight to the "malcontent" label.

I hope a punter tries to do that in a game.

The dude tried to hit it on purpose and was shown giving a big sigh of relief after it hit because he thought he was about to miss and got lucky and hit a sign.

Had he missed that would've been about a 25 yard punt.

They are going to move it up. Thats all we need to know.

But I doubt very seriously in a regular season game anyone would hit it unless they were trying like the Titans punter was.

The punt went 27 while hitting the board.

And even if he was trying to hit it, there are still times when you want max height and that board is still hanging overhead.

A 30 yard punt isn't that far of a stretch of the imagination if you are in opposing territory and are trying to pin the other team deep.

When you want max height, you are usually close to the end zone. The board doesn't reach each end zone, it's reaches from the 20 to the other 20 yard line. Plus, it's centered in the middle of the field. ALL punts are directionally punted. Nobody punts down the middle of the field. Which is exactly where the jumbotron is. It is only 50 feet wide. The field is 150 feet wide. It is only 1/3 as wide as the field. To hit it, you have to do it on purpose.

The line of scrimmage was the 36 so it only traveled 13 yards.

The LOS was about a foot past the 35 and it landed between the opposing 37 or 38.

I think its dumb that a great deal of Cowboys fans want to turn this situation into a "us vs. the world" scenario. Jerry screwed the pooch on this and people are crying foul because he's taking heat.

It has been stated numerous times and NEVER once denied by the NFL that Jerry and the architects met with and received permission from the NFL (Goodell and Competition Committee) just before the thing went up.

Do you really believe Jerry just said "hey lets just spend millions of dollars on a huge screen tv, hang it ahh lets say 90ft for ****s and giggles what the hell, sounds like a good number"?

What alot of fans here are saying, and rightfully so, it is the NFL that should take the heat. But you know what, fair enough.
Jerry already said that if the NFL says it must go higher, he wants to put that in the rulebooks so all is right next time. Well, I would assume you know what that means, but you were obviously clueless in this situation so what that would mean is all those cameras on a wire, signs, hanging things would have to be at the new height as well.
That might not be tough for a few stadiums, but there is quite a few that would be hell.

I say leave the scoreboard as is, let it be a crutch for all other punters. Our punter would have the advantage seeing he is used to it and he can get the distance without kicking it straight up in the air.

You're right, the board only reaches the 20. However, the arc of a ball kicked from the opponents 40 can hit the board.

very well put. question for you is, is the bottom of the jumbotron 50ft? or the top of it? that matters

not if you are a good kicker and you kick like most kickers do and that would be towards the sidelines close to the 1 yard line.

24. Not 27.

I know. Nitpicking. ;)

Not if directionally punted. ALL punts are directional in the NFL. Nobody punts down the middle of the field. It's an extremely bad idea to do so as it exposes your punt coverage due to not being able to limited the returners return possibilities. The sideline protects the punt coverage team.

You can't hit the jumbotron if you aren't directionally kicking. It's only 50 feet wide. Which means that less than 10 yards (8.3 yards to be exact) of it are exposed on any given side of the field. Each side of the field is 25 yards wide (75 feet).

To hit the jumbotron with a directional kick, you would have to be kicking it from outside of the hash marks. That doesn't happen.

The screens on the end are 50 feet wide. Which is thicker than the middle of the video board. (they overlap the big screens)
