Like others have said good position coach terrible HC.

With Thomas, Thurman, and Gray apparently not available afterall, I doubt this is necessarily Jerry meddling. It could be Phillips is just looking for the best available and Campo may very well be that guy.

If that is the case, why haven't we bothered to ask for permission to speak with any of the others? I don't think the Commanders have locked up Gray.
Sorry, this obviously isn't a Wade Phillips decision any more than hiring Houck again was.
If Emmitt Thomas was available guess who the seconday coach would be? HINT: Not Dave CampoTVMan;1928071 said:A Jerry/Jason Guy. Not a Wade Guy.
We did ask for permission to interview Thomas. It was denied. Not sure about the others.Alexander;1928074 said:If that is the case, why haven't we bothered to ask for permission to speak with any of the others? I don't think the Commanders have locked up Gray.

Deon Grant and Rashean Mathis had their best years w/ him coaching them

You would think Cowboys fans would actually show some respect for a guy that helped us win three Super Bowls as an assistant. I guess thats too much to ask.Duane;1928086 said:Dead on. People are going to scream because they remember Campo the HC, not Campo the coordinator.
Alexander;1928093 said:See, I remember Campo the coach that Jimmy Johnson used to pat on the head and made his personal whipping boy.
He held eleven jobs in 18 years before he became Dallas head coach. Two more in the four years after he was fired (Cleveland, Jacksonville). That's thirteen jobs in 22 years. There is a reason for that.
And the same coaches and players that worked with Campo praise his work and if Jimmy didn't think he was a good coach he wouldn't have kept him either. I think the news of Campo being Jimmys whipping boy says a lot more about Jimmy than it does about Campo. Thirteen jobs in 22 years is the life of a football coach.Alexander;1928093 said:See, I remember Campo the coach that Jimmy Johnson used to pat on the head and made his personal whipping boy.

Look at what he did with marginal talent like Larry Brown and Mario Edwards while he was here.
