This goes against Fisher's assertion of the "unhappy triad":

A sliver of good news on the injury to Cowboys LB Sean Lee - I'm told he only tore the ACL in his left knee. It's not a multi-ligament tear.

Great! It's not as bad as they worried. Whew! He's only out for the rest of the year.

It is really irrelevant. He's gone. And the team needs to go on and that includes looking for his eventual replacement through the course of this year and then next offseason. It is pointless to keep on hoping that one day he can play an entire season without hurting himself.

Jerry looks like a genius for signing him to a "team friendly" multi-year contract ... *eye roll*

I totally agree with the first statement but I disagree with the latter. However, I understand people's frustration with Lee and that part is relevant. He will come back stronger than before and we'll see how he does. Whether or not one believes he is 'injury prone' or not, he still is missing too much time. I'd renegotiate his contract to the vet minimum with incentives for playing time yada. That might be a tad premature but he has to stay on the field or he's irrelevant to the teams success.

Yep. It really is a shame to because we are a better team with him than without him. The only brightside is it happened now instead of the day before the first game. It appears the Hitchens era will begin early.

I disagree, Jobberone. :)

Sean Lee appears to be breaking down and I don't think it (his health) will ever get better until he stops playing. Someone else already mentioned it but his frame does not seem to be a good fit for the mass he carries and he is aging rapidly. He reminds me of Dat Nguyen.

Agreed, and it starts with seeing if the 4th rounder brings anything to the table.

I'll wait on that. Just looked up the cows went 8-8 in 2012 when Rat and Lee both only played in 6 games. I'll bet it was gloom and doom then.

I'll say this now: I would take an healthy Spencer over a healthy Lee.

I think this D has a chance to be middle of the road if Melton still has it, Crawford can play, one of the 7th round rookies overachieves(Stanford). Lawrence and Spencer are a luxury.

You do realize that every player you named are either Injured or coming of an injury.

LOL!

That's the bright side of all this... maybe all the peeing & moaning will stop about the Cowboys drafting a "backup" in the 4th round.

It's exactly why I wasn't upset at all about the pick. I knew he'd be getting minutes. Now it looks like he'll be getting serious minutes.

This is why you had to draft the kid to be his 'backup'.

Cause Sean Lee's backup is actually a starter.

The problem with that is they drafted a back up, not a starter.... it would be foolish to think that a reach in the fourth round, who played WLB in College is going to take over as the MLB and be a success. I would rather take my chance with Carter in the middle and have open auditions with the rest of the linebackers on the weakside. I would explore bringing in two veterans who have actually played and made the calls and adjustments in this type of defense, and keep the better of the two after training camp. Angerer, for example played and called this type of defense before becoming expendable when Indy changed to the 3-4.
