Is there a pro McCarthy group? Thought most are just happy we got better than Garrett.
Yeah,
He's been put on a pedestal as if he's accomplished some cultural nirvana.
All he's done is ride the coat tails of the current DC and former OC the same way he rode the talent of his former QB into a false narrative that he had anything to do with his previous gig's success.
He got fired because his offense got stale. How ironic how this sounds kinda like why he fired Moore.

But you guys who are okay with status quo and/or wild card or bust results continue to enjoy your relevance.

When both this HC and QB1 prove me wrong I'll be right here to say so.

I won't expect those differing with me to show the same class.

But, that's life in the Zone.

If just being better than Garrett is the bar...
Never mind, lol

They started that cycle of multi firsts by dealing their terrible QB for a haul.

When was the last time we traded a player for a premium pick? That doesn’t happen here.

I didn’t hurt them that the Saints were willing to trade a future first to get a DB while not having a QB. Lucky it wasn’t higher.
cowboys should have done the same and traded Dak while there was some interest and before they added the no trade clause to his contarct.
jerry is stubborn about his starts and wants to ride dak to the sunset , it is a high stakes gamble for an 80 year old man betting on an 8th year QB who is in decline stats wise and has only won 2 playoff games in 8 years. This is the QB of the most valuable sports franchise on earth.?

Not getting fooled at all.
Again, that picked happened because Reich over paid, and would never have happened if he was not the HC of the Colts.
Eagles lucked into that and took advantage. Yes, smart their part to have lucked into it.

But another item that makes since but it does not meet your narrative, so you will keep repeating that as well.
It doesn't matter how it came to be.

It's something that we all know Jerry and Co would NEVER do.

They're great at their jobs. Ask em. They'll tell ya.

Spags' notes from the draft. Good right up on how the Deuce Vaughn pick went down in the war room.
They huddled and decided to go with Vaughn, as he was the top of the board of the last players left. While his dad was out of the room.
Then told him when he came back in. He did not advocate to draft his son. Just let it play out.

This is what McClay said about drafts. As to picking later in the draft.

"It's the penalty of being good," said Will McClay, the Cowboys vice president of player personnel. "You set your board, and everybody has guys they like and think they can add value to (the team). But we don't control that. We control our board and what we think about the next guy that's up there.
"It is what it is. There is nothing you can do about it."

More fans need to understand this better IMO.
Did you really just refer to him as Spags???

:lmao:
No, he has not. Simply better than the previous HC, and has better overall coaching as well. The albatross Moore is gone. So will see how that works out as well.

Garrett as the bar? :lmao: as well.

Actually MM has had more success that what Parcels had here. Is that the bar you want to look at?
MM also is slightly better than Wade, by a few % points. Better in the playoffs than Wade and Bill. And right there with Garrett after 3 years as to 10 years.

Lulz?

Why do think what McClay said is profound?

Of course they don’t listen to fans and go by their own board.

However, they aren’t infallible which is what makes the draft interesting because fans can scrutinize the picks based on their own judgement.

They spent a lot of time during the post draft presser talking about drafting him because his father works for the team. It’s going to be somewhat of an awkward situation when they end up having to cut him at some point. It’s going to be interesting to see how the Cowboys plan on using him. I’m pulling for him, but he is small.
I'll bet ya my left nut and a Dallas Hat that he aint getting cut this year. Take it to the bank. This is a marketing dream for Jerry...worst case. Best case, the kid is dynamic. I think hes better than the rb Denver had, Phillip Lindsay. He was 5ft 8 but not nearly as dynamic and productive as Deuce was at K Sate, a big program. Versus in College for the Colorado state Rams(Lindsay). Im tired of seeing this kid minimized. He has special talent at any size. I SEE HIM HAVING A 3-5 year career. Not bad for a 6th rd guy.

And then there are the fans that just are not happy with anything.
I will never understand why people refuse to accept that there is a TON of luck involved in getting to and winning a Super Bowl. The Eagles got lucky that the Colts were willing to give up WAY too much for a trash QB because the head coach thought he could revive him. The Bucs got lucky that the Chiefs' entire offensive line AND their QB got hurt in the playoffs leading up to the Super Bowl.. The Chiefs got lucky that a ref was willing to call defensive holding at the most crucial moment in the game.. And lest we forget they got lucky that Jimmy G. missed a wide open Emmanuel Sanders for what would have been a the knockout blow TD a few years ago. Not to mention Kyle Shanahan deciding to air it out when his ground game was averaging 7 ypc. And how about the Patriots surviving the Pete Carroll brain fart in 2014 or the ATL meltdown (also architected by Shanahan) the next year. The Cowboys have made their share of dumb moves that have cost them a shot at the ring.. but they have also been victims of horrible luck a few times as well. And don't even get me started on the "Dez didn't catch it" fiasco in 2014.

It is what it is.. None of us fans has any control over how the team is built or how they play on Sundays (or Mondays or Thursdays or Saturdays) .. all we can do is watch and root them on. There are absolutely organizations that are run better than the Cowboys these days and unfortunately one of them is in our division. Certainly there is room on those teams' respective bandwagons for people who just can't stand to watch the Cowboys anymore.

I didn't say it was profound, but it is true more fans need to understand that. Go back and read the threads on. the draft as it unfolded.
That should be self explanatory.

Yes that is what we are here for, to scrutinize and give our opinions. It would be nice though if there were some good informed opinions. :muttley:
However some can be pretty entertaining. I like the meltdowns.

Yeah, they probably won’t cut him no matter what his rookie season. They’ll figure out someway to hang onto him if worse comes to worse. They’ll have a role for him as a returner or have a few gadget plays for him.

Fair enough,
I'll be here giving him the credit IF/WHEN a deep playoff run is ever accomplished.
Will you be singing his same praises if he gets fired?

My bet is you will switch from scapegoating Moore to scapegoating McCarthy.

Jerry and Dak are not to be touched, lol

luck, yes. But man, its been 27 years. Not sure if thats luck or we doing something wrong. I get it. U and me see it the same. Its just at some point the main goal must be met. Even a ground hog see's his shadow once a decade.

I have a feeling no matter who Dallas picked there would have been pages and pages of complaints.

I get that there have been 27 years of failure here but it's not fair to all these kids that haven't even put on a Cowboys helmet yet. We could look back on this draft as the one that changed everything for the better. Has that ever crossed anyone's mind?

Sounds like you’re not rooting for anything. If you don’t want to see the difference in this team and roster after just 3 seasons, it will never get any better for you! Good team, very good roster, much smarter offseason decisions, no stupid trades or trade ups, dropping dead weight and getting a handle on the cap. Keep winning keep getting in. That’s what the great teams of the past did.

Moore wasn’t a scapegoat. How could keeping the offense exactly the same be helpful? Change was long overdue.

Nolan? Come on! The D Garrett left behind played no part in how bad they sucked? Garrett and Marinelli were an even bigger joke.
Dude,
I did not like Garrett. Its just McCarthy aint done jack squat either.
For the gazillionth time...l
To you and the other Jerry minions, Beating Tampa Bay was NOT an accomplishment.
Getting beat by the same team 2 years in a row in the playoffs accomplished nothing over the previous 27 years of futility.

How did that Air Force motto go?
Aim higher! Lol

It's like some huge hypnotized bunch of Jones extended family members here satisfied with "just" making the playoffs or regular season wins banners.

Is everyone under 30 and not know what a Cowboy standard is?

Some here are hopeless.
P.S. the offense WILL remain the same and produce the same results regardless of who is playcalling. It's not the play called its the one executing the plays.
But although its a different discussion entirely, this QB1 and HC ain't winning 3 straight playoff games.

BUT my hats off to you for hoping they can.

I don't even get excited until after Thanksgiving because that's when the creek of the Cowboys season usually show. It did last year. This team is just snakebitten. Don't know how they'll ever get over the hump. The NFC is there for the taking.

Won't do anything, if he gets fired, he gets fired. If he wins, great. Then keep on winning. If not, then he goes.
Scapegoating? wow what a stretch there.

I don't form emotional attachments to coaches. Nor players. Yes there are players I like better than others. But once they are gone, they are gone.
I did not like Moore, not at a QB, not as the QB coach, and especially not as the OC. He may have been the exception, but the emotion was not a "like" :muttley:
