It obviously makes sense for him to want to come here, and it makes some sense for us to pursue him -- other than the fact, imo, the salary-cap concerns and the fact it would give us SO many pass rushers.

Duh, I know, you can't have too many pass rushers. But we've already seen Ellis whine at the addition of Spencer, imagine if Taylor was brought into the fold as well.

Wouldn't the only way it would be possible is if we just released Ellis and brought in Taylor as his replacement? Could work, I guess.

You just have the feeling some other team will come along offering a lot more than we'd ever be willing to.

I think we should totally pick him up, bench Ellis and make sure Spencer sees as little playing time as possible. What the Cowboys really need right now is a 35 year old player for a position they are heavy at.

Do I detect a note of sarcasm? I think it could work well if you left him at DE and played him when we use a 4-man front in passing situations. So he wouldn't crowd Spencer and Ellis out of playing time at OLB, and he could give Ellis or Ware a breather when we go to a 4-man line (about 30% of the time, I think).

The team went 1-15.
New staff and front office guys.
No one who really wants to be a team leader would then decide to virtually skip the entire off season and not be around at all.
No one who knows BP would ever think that he would allow it.
Taylor decided to do it and this is the fallout.

You are missing the point. Jason is smart... he knows Bill is going to bring Testaverde to QB the team to "win now"....:lmao2:

But seriouosly... Jason doesnt have enough in his tank to see a rebuilding process through. I dont blame him one bit.

Perfectly fine. Retire, go make some craptacular movies in Hollywood and stop stealing money from the Dolphins.

Yeah, he only racks up double digit sacks every year despite being on one of the worst teams in the NFL. Just not enough left in the ole tank.

And please, this isn't about Parcells doing what's best for the Dolphins. He is just sending a message to his new team by cutting a high profile player, like he always does.

I'm sure glad we got rid of Galloway for Keyshawn Johnson. Awesome stuff, there.

Yeah ... that's exactly why he's cut Jason Taylor.

Except that he hasn't cut Jason Taylor .. he just wants him to show up for work and do the job that he's paid to do.

Boy, he's really going out of his way to make an example of Jason Taylor. Expecting him to show up for work? What a tyrant and a bully. Jason Taylor is a saint to put up with that kind of unfair treatment.

Sure, he hasn't cut him, or traded him, yet.

But if you can't see the writing on the wall... well, I guess you're blind.

I'm sure Jason Taylor would love to 'show up for work'. Kinda hard to do that though when your employer announces to the media (instead of handling it with some class) that you basically aren't welcome at the facilities anytime in the foreseeable future.

Link please?

Sparano and Ireland have said all offseason how much he's looking forward and anticipate Taylor being a Dolphin.

Sparano's quote yesterday was that he's been informed by Taylor (or Taylor's management ... I doubt Taylor is even classy enough to say it directly himself) that not only is he skipping all voluntary offseason work, but that he's also not attending the mandatory mini-camps and training camps.

I know you love to bash Parcells every chance you get, but could you please at least let reality seep in every once in a while into your arguments?

Tony Sparano: “This is my reaction with the Jason Taylor situation. I’m going to answer this question one time. I’m not going to answer another question about the Jason Taylor situation after I answer this. Here is what I know. I’m glad we know this. (Why are you glad?) We’ve gotten the information. (When did you receive it and from whom?) That’s important. But I know that Jason is not going to be at any OTAs. (How do you know?) I know that Jason is not going to be in any minicamps. (How do you know?) And I know that right now Jason is not going to be at training camp. (Right now? So this can change tomorrow or maybe next week?)

“So that’s what we know. (How long have you known this?) Jason’s a player under contract with the Miami Dolphins. He knows that. Both parties are well aware of the information. (Have you spoken to him directly?)”

I asked Sparano to elaborate on his bombshell, trying to learn some basic information about the who, what, where, when and why.

Sparano: “That is all I am going to say about it. (Why provide only partial information?) I am going to talk about our players now. I am not going to talk about another thing about Jason. I’m not going to talk about another thing. What I just told you is what I know. (Is that all you know, and if so, why haven’t you investigated further before making such a big announcement?) It’s what we know. That being said, we need to discuss the current players on our team right now that have been busting their butt for nine weeks here.”

Dolphins executive vice president of football operations Bill Parcells told ESPN's Chris Mortensen on Sunday that defensive end Jason Taylor will be playing for Miami in 2008 unless he chooses to retire.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3273442

Obviously, Parcells is just hellbent on getting rid of Jason Taylor at all costs just to make an example out of him. Poor Jason Taylor ... he wants so badly to play for the Dolphins, but mean ole bully Parcells is forcing him out the door kicking and screaming. What a tyrant !!

Just like Greg Ellis wanted to play so badly for the Cowboys, but the Cowboys obviously were forcing him out the door against his will when they drafted Spencer and forced Ellis to learn a new position. Gosh ... if only the NFL teams would give these guys under legal contract just the chance to play for them.

Nice spin, but pretty futile when the reality of the situation has been on NFL Network and the first page of this thread.. I bash Parcells every chance I get? Not really, although I'll admit I wasn't too thrilled about him gutting our coaching staff and trying to steal players from the team. Nor was I too impressed with his barely .500 record during his stint with Dallas. Sorry, mediocrity just doesn't do it for me. I'm a Cowboys fan.

I'm not a certified Parcells nut-hugger like you are.

Shouldn't you have moved on to the Dolphins board by now so you can keep better track of your hero and idol, Duane Parcells?

Oh that's right ... you don't have one.

Or, I'm sorry ... 'blah, blah, blah I don't have one" was more in line with what you just posted above. I don't want to misquote you.

IR, I realize you're just a blind Parcells homer, but don't you think it's a LITTLE odd that the VP of Football Operations and the Head Coach would be trying to do what is best for the Miami Dolphins?

Don't you think it would be wiser for them to cower to the football player and international dancing star that is Jason Taylor? I think that such a stance would definitely lay a strong foundation regarding what is expected of players in Miami, as well as help reverse the losing attitude that has been prevalent in Miami recently?

I certainly think that such preferential treatment would go a long way in reversing the fortunes of the Dolphins. You've got to treat Jason Taylor like a man, by letting him do whatever the hell he wants. That's the only way to handle this successfully, IMO.

How will Parcells get any draft picks if he does that? Should he lower the value of JT on the market by telling everybody he doesn't want him?

Why do you need a link when it's on the first page of this thread?

Here's what you do, move your little mouse cursor to the hyperlink marked "1" in this thread, then take your Parcells goggles off and read the article.
