this would be a really dumb move what's to say McFadden even drops to 4 Miami will most likely trade down as well one would assume any trade anyone does with Miami would be for Mcfadden and if that happens we pretty much wasted an extra 1st to jump up for nothing

Everyone is downing it. I will lean toward the people that watch college football, but on that point scale it is way too far on our side. This is just a rumor, but the media would be praising Jerry till he became a bust.

I will go out on a limb and make a prediction that McFadden will not be the best running back from this draft. In fact he might not be the second best either.

Yeah, this is where perhaps Ireland & Co. would help 'rationalize' Jerry's draft day fantasies...As far as I'm concerned, the McFadden dream ended several months ago...I like having the 2 1st rounders better.

Nobody trades into the top 5 in the NFL anymore. Teams are no longer willing to invest huge money in a player that historically is 50-50 to live up to where he is picked. I can't see this happening.

I wouldn't say PFT is a premiere source of news, Rich,

Then stop right there.

Because I'm still wondering how Terry Bradshaw is still doing FOX pregame shows and how Rex Ryan isn't being considered by the Commanders for their HC position.

We could also end up with Marcus Spears and Bobby Carp. type players with our 2 #1's.

awhile ago, I would have been down for trading up to land McFad, but w/ so many good, young talent at RB in this draft, it's just not worth it

Agreed. I was really looking forward to McFadden wearing the star, but now that he's out of reach, I'm not interested in him anymore.

Besides, I hope this turns out like the draft in which we picked Emmitt Smith. Had we not taken Steve Walsh in the supplemental draft we would have had the top pick and likely would have selected Blair Thomas and not Emmitt. The Jets ended up taking him and, well, you know how that turned out.

Maybe lightning strikes twice for the Cowboys, picking, let's say, Felix Jones, who turns out to be a better pro runner than McFadden.

Besides, we DEFINITELY need a corner with one of those two No. 1 picks.

If we get a running back to complement Barber, a corner back who can actually cover and a wide receiver who could come in and make a few plays near the end of the year (like Dwayne Bowe) this team could rival the Patriots in terms of dominance.

Exactly. I can't believe so many wouldn't do this deal..

The problem before was that we thought CLE's pick was too low and we'd have to add a ton to get up high enough to get McFadden. But if our two #1s were all it took, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Problem is, in the real world this still wouldn't be enough.

Don't be so sure CL. The 4th pick on the "old" chart(the only chart) is worth 1800 points. Our 2 #1's are worth about 1400 points. If the Raiders want to deal down, that might very well get it done in todays "devalued" chart. Maybe throw in a 5th as well, or maybe a 4th next year?

I think it depends on how the combine plays out. What if a lot of RBs show real well? It would be harder to sell a pick that gets McFadden and therefore, the Cowboys pay less. Or what if it turns out to be deep at WR and that's what Oakland wants (they sure as hell need it), they can pick up two good prospects in turn for missing out on one great one they may not even really want/need. Those would all work in the Cowboys favor (if Jones decides he absolutely has to have McFadden).

I find it kind of amazing that so many would be irate if we got the best player in the draft for a couple of tail end first rounders. That would be nothing short of highway robbery.

And can someone please remind me why McFadden isn't a need? MB3 has so far proven to be a great role back who is a RFA this season with Drew Rosenhaus as his agent coming off a Pro Bowl and looking for Top 5 RB $$$ in a longterm deal, and someone who's running style will not equate with a long career (or perhaps even a 250+ carry season). I'd rather let him walk than pay him Shaun Alexander/Larry Johnson money.

Exactly. What happened to everyone that wanted him before?

And Dakota, that would be great if we could pull it off. I'd love to see what McFadden could do when he wasn't the sole focus of the defense every single play.

good god do not let that happen.

If it were to happen, and McFadden turned into another Tony Dorsett, you'd be kissing JJ's feet.
