Dude is trash. Unbreakable was his best work.
finally...agreed...
Dude is trash. Unbreakable was his best work.
I can't believe so many people liked Signs, I understand Sixth Sense, I kinda in a weird way get Unbreakable. Signs? and then the rest of his movies were so bad, I mean so so bad.
You just named 4 movies. He's directed 11 (if we're not counting Split, since it's not out yet).
That is not a good percentage.
He's had some terrible movies, but The Visit and now Split seem to be a sign that he's getting his groove back.
I'm actually partial to the types of movies he makes. Slow burn thrillers with twists and interesting characters, but The Happening was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
I agree in that he did a great job in building the tension w/o showing similar to older thrillers. I was so let down by the way to fight the Aliens that it soured my enjoyment. Why would aliens come to a planet that's covered by 71% of your enemy (water) and not have that knowledge while surpassing us in every other technological sense? I still like Sixth Sense as his best; I thought the idea was too cool not to get give it the top nod if had to. I know there are plot holes in every movie, I just hold a grudge against Signs bc loved the first 95% of the movie.
maybe the aliens thought they'd win anyway? not sure why people get so hung up on this, it was a movie about aliens. Do you believe in aliens?

What do you mean, "not have that knowledge?"

Not having the knowledge that the planet they are preparing to invade was covered by 71% of a fatal substance readily available by the population. Unless they killed us all first bf entering our atmosphere and then landed, etc. It's a movie, I enjoyed it, but that was a weak finish in nerdy comic book terms (me included deftly), etc.
Well, I can't speak for their reasons for coming to Earth, but I thought the movie made it fairly clear they were aware of the water on the planet. Shyamalan's character even points out how they have avoided areas with a lot of water.
for your enjoyment
I was convinced they would never actually show an alien so this scene was awesome.Ah man, that was a good scene. I remember seeing that and being creeped out.

But the rain? Beings intelligent enough for interstellar travel, who apparently move from planet to planet in order to deplete resources are not smart enough to understand that a planet that is 70% water has an echo system that produces water in the form of rain, which falls from the sky and is capable of killing you. Yet, you aren't intelligent enough to figure out that if you are going to invade, you also have to be smart enough to safe guard yourselves from rain? At the very least, figure out a way to stay out of it at all cost.
I was so utterly disappointed in that movie. I honestly think that this is when I decided that I would no longer pay to see Shyamalan's films. I loved the 6th Sense but not much after that unfortunately.
