then how did 50 zombies get on the roof?

Some were from the helicopter. Some where already on the roof or going to the roof to get on the helicopter or get supplies from it.

It only takes one infected person to follow the others up to the roof and turn them.

I personally think the guy killed his gf, is mentally unhinged, and will pose problems in the future...possibly as a lackey to the Governor.

Holy crap! I never even though about the fact that the guy probably killed her and I don't know why it didn't dawn on me. I wondered immediately how she had cut her leg off so cleanly at the gate...yet she's way out across the way being eaten. It never dawned on me to think the guy did that. Dang it...something to think on now because Rick did tell the kid where the prison is.

Episode 5... So what did you think?

One thing that did give me a chuckle was that I brought up the point that we haven't seen any animals feeding off the zombies... I mean with all the zombies out there the world has become a giant "meat-market" for critters AND tonight we see two dogs feeding off one of the dead.

heh - you rule man. :)

this show was a turning point. i think the setup sucked, i don't see a convergence of directions, but i liked how carl and rick bonded while shooting bullets they didn't have. you can't stab 'em all in the head but you can shoot them all to prevent the need to.

best show of the season so far. the ending, good timing.

Agreed.

This episode resonated with me better than any episode so far this season.

See the person looking into the prison at the end makes me wonder if it wasn't the case all along of that person sneaking into the prison at night and then leading the zombies to the weak spot in the fence using rats as bait. Maybe not, but I could see how that would be possible.

Good episode. There was tons going on. Loved the ending with him looking at the prison. It's starting to pick up at this point. I really enjoyed last nights episode and I love how hard Hershal worked to saved everyone. That was pretty good.

During the preview for next episode... The Gov is sitting by a fire with 2-3 tents so he might not be alone.

I came across a site that showed a couple pics from next week's episode and Martinez was in one of the shots.

Good episode and hopefully the beginning of several in a row. I still wonder aloud why they did not fortify the fences by parking cars in front or adding some additional layer of protection. Stupid Rick Grimes.

That's a good point about the cars.

It would help keep a horde from being able to collect against a spot along the fence.

In the original "Dawn of the Dead" the survivors used tractor-trailers and parked them length-wise against the glass doors so the zombies couldn't apply much mass against the glass.

I guess apocalypse survivors in 1979 were smarter than those in 2013. :D

Me too.

I considered this 'weathering the storm'.

Most of the sick people (other than the nameless victims who were added) weathered the storm until medical help arrived.

Rick and Carl weathered the storm against the hordes of zombies.

And I as a viewer weathered the storm of uninteresting story lines and bad storytelling to get to the next episode.
