You weren't here back when Zimmer was hated worse as a DC than Garrett has ever been as a HC around here. I was the lonely guy saying Zimmer was actually a pretty good coach on that topic, too.
I wouldn't be around now if I was here back then.

Carroll has been average without the Legions of Doom defense. Amazing how talent elevates coaching.

Boom, Legion of Boom. :) He got to the SB twice in a row. That's not easy to do no matter what roster you have. Coaching plays a role. The Seagals pretty much knocked us out of the playoffs in '17, beat us in the first meeting in '18, and nearly beat us at home in the playoffs. All with an inferior roster. If not for Dak's heroics on 3rd and 16 to the half yard line, they probably beat us again.

exactly....but according to some of the pundits, the coaches have to scheme things to create filet mignon out of ple of shiet and if they can't then they are no good.

You are half right. We can compete for world championships with the QB, but not the coaching staff.
It’s a subjective argument.

Need great coaching to build the roster because without the talent it’s not likely happening.

This isn’t a championship caliber team. Either need a top 5 defense or QB and offense in most cases. We have neither.

The nfl is like all professional sports being talent driven. Without it coaching staffs look foolish on the most part.

There really aren’t that many great HC’s in the NFL anymore.

Only 7 have a Ring including Bill and cumulatively they haven’t won more than Belichick. That means the other 6 only have 1 Ring each.

The Salary Cap and Unlimited Free Agency has changed how the NFL builds and maintains talent.

Most teams basically have a 4 or 5 year window. Unless you have one of the more Elite QB which you can continue to try and build around.

You have to continue to draft well instead of hitting on a few years drafts and stockpiling for an era.

But once you have to start paying the talent , they better be Elite or you won’t be able to surround enough. Even if they are Elite there’s a fine line and then hope everyone stays healthy.

This is why except for Brady and Pats we are seeing more 1 Year wonder teams with very few returning champions even with the best QB’s and what we’d consider best HC’s.

Bill and Brady have the perfect combination in Elite and clutch talent at QB and ability to churn roster not hanging on too long or overpaying. I’m not sure either would have had the level of success without the other.

Great scheming helps when you have the talent. No doubt about it.

We’ve seen different results in a 13-3 or 8-8 season with the same coaching but talent makes the difference. Look how much difference when we went from 12-4 to 4-12. All about the talent on the field.

To answer that, you'd have to go back and read what I've actually said about him, and try to forget all the stupid things that get mis-characterized and attributed to me by idiots.

The good news is, the post history is there for anybody who wants to bother.

Try as you might to backtrack...………...you are "THAT GUY"!!!!

And then all someone has to do is read your signature to know how much of a love fest you have with Garrett.

Payton, Harbough, or Zimmer for me. Even better if zimmer got blown out and we could convince him to be our DC and have payton be HC. problem is they worked for this organization and know its a crap show
Zimmer sucks. Especially as a D coordinator. Remember the last time the Cowboys defense allowed 2 200 yard rushers in a season? Yup, Zimmer. Campo had to step in from his head coaching roll.

He's made the playoffs 4 out of the last 5 years. The Legion of Boom got old and he tore apart the team and is rebuilding the team. They made the playoffs last year while still in their rebuild. Overall, he's only missed the playoffs twice in 9 years in Seattle.

Carroll is a much better coach than Garrett.

Part of being a good coach is knowing what your players do best and using their individual talents to help you win. For instance, asking a big bodied WR to run misdirection routes is just bad coaching. Misdirection routes are for smaller quicker WR. Your big bodied WR should be running more post, seems, and slants. That's just common sense. And if a coach doesn't have common sense then he's going to hold his team back.

LOL.

Just out of curiousity, in looking at the Sporting News list, which Top 10 coaches would you bump to put Garrett in the Top 10?
Jason is better than the 4 coaches a head of him. The only argument can be made for Tomlin but he basically pulled a Chuckie by taking over a ready made team which is pretty apparent now.
