Again, Landry and Johnson were smarter:

Dorsett, first three games
Att-yds
4-11
7-62
10-72

Emmitt's first three games:

Att-yds
2-2
6-11
17-63

After 4 games, Emmitts stats were 37 carries for 104 yards, an average of 2.8.

In his rookie year Emmitt averaged 3.9 yards a carry. He got less than 70 yards in 12 of 16 games.

Almost every rookie RB struggles.

Walter Payton 3.5 yards a carry less than 700 yards that season. Marcus Allen as well.

He is still a rookie.

Bull****. Benching your #4 overall pick with the game on the line is a big deal.

No matter what some fans would like to tell themselves.

He got benched, and he deserved to be benched. He needs to be better. .
Calm down Beavis.......Morris got a TD at Fedex, just like Dak and EE

Morris then did diddly when trying to run out the clock

"Benching" is such a dramatic interpretation

I'm glad for it, every idiot with a microphone was pronouncing him the king of the world, a few slices of humble pie is what he needed, now he can realize where he's at and get to work.

I'm perfectly calm. I'm not the guy lying to myself and anyone who'll listen. I can handle the reality of the situation just fine. The problem is with fans who can't.

Irrelevant. He didn't fumble. That's more than enough. What Morris did or didn't do in no way excuses Elliott's fumbles and benching.

"Benching" is such a dramatic interpretation

Too bad. It's accurate and it's factual. Fans can lie, reality doesn't.

Well then you're okay with playing the lesser player. We very well may have needed the big play Elliott was more likely to make to win this game. This is why I disagree with the move. To me you are punishing the team for a couple of fluke fumbles.

And how do you decide EE is better? His immense log of data as a NFL RB? I sure as hell hope he's better but we need some game film. If you want to tell me he plays because of his draft status ok. Just don't tell me you know he's better because of where he was drafted which means more than a little and less than a lot. And he's not flashed enough nor again had enough time in grade for me to look at him vs Morris to say he's better. That's subjective but you don't have enough results to be making sweeping statements about his abilities.

Maybe those rumors about Elliott partying at Ohio State were true. Maybe those rumors of the Cowboys fed up with Elliott partying during camp were true. Maybe Elliott tweeting himself in a pot shop in Seattle was more telling about his mindset and football playing second fiddle to partying. Maybe Elliott needs to get his head out of his rear end, wise up, and make playing RB for the Dallas Cowboys a priority.

Elliott is off to a terrible start based on expectations. His statistics might be OK but he missed most of camp with a 'tweaked' hamstring but that tweak didn't damper his partying according to rumor. Now he is committing the cardinal sin for a RB by putting the ball on the ground twice.

A benching early in his career might be just the ticket to wake him up and get him to take football seriously.

And?

I have no reason to lie and I'm not. Unlike some people, I can accept the fact that the guy was benched.
Benched is like saying a Starting Pitcher that gave up 2 Home Runs was taken out in the 9th with a 2 run lead for the closer......we'll see who gets the carries next week

To be fair, Emmitt Smith didn't show that his first few games either.

I looked and you are right that Emmitt didn't do much his first two games...didn't get much opportunity and that team was really bad. I guess the contrast between him and Dak are just so amazing.

It's far more difficult for a rookie quarterback to do well early than a running back. And Dak was the fourth rounder not a high overall selection. Yet Dak is playing like the first rounder.

We'll see...

Belicheck would've benched him after the first fumble.

I wouldn't play the inferior player there. I'd show faith and trust in the guy I just used the 4th overall pick in the draft on.

They still won the game but they did so with a lesser talent in the backfield in a game that went down to the wire. It didn't make any sense to me.

We bent over backwards never to take Demarco out of the game when he was fumbling left and right because he was the most talented back on the team by a good margin. I think the same could be said of Zeke.

I'm guessing we're just a lot more comfortable bringing Morris in than we were Randle. I can understand that. I'd still rather Zeke be on the field for game deciding drives though.

Zeke will be ok and I'm pulling for him all the way.....but fumbling and a tight game warrants a look (albeit temporary) at Morris in key stretches of a game.

No, it's not.

And it's not saying "who gets the carries next week" either. It's saying this team's #4 overall pick was taken out of the game while it was being decided.

I can accept that fact without any bad comparisons or implied qualifiers.

And, in terms of off the field image Morris is excited to meet with the crew at Fed Ex field before the game. I like everything I read about him off the field.
