As for my sig, I saw it on another board, and merely used it because its somewhat funny. And it is. People are all up in arms over a comment made by someone from PFW. As if PFW is the "end all" of football. And yet, people are incensed over it.

Yet, Dr.Z claims something, and its gospel.

The reality of it is, its irrelevant who says what. Its hard to guarge corners and compare them. Why? Because each defense, each designed play, each role, each play's pass rush affect a CB and their stats. Furthermore, each offense, each QB, each pass is different when different CBs face them.

So the mass media thinks Hall is a top 2 CB?

I fail to see any reason to get upset over it. Its their opinion. Hence, my sig.

Man, you really expect people to get a lot out of that sig...you know, it being your commentary on the inability of today's media to gauge the ability of NFL corners because of all the exogenous variables involved...

I read his signature as sarcasm, not agreement.

But irony rarely goes over big here, that's true.

It was more for comic relief than anything. Because I knew it wouldn't go well over here, but I was curious to see some responses to it.

What I still can't get over is why everyone worries about what "experts" say about players. Who cares if Newman gets publicity as a top CB or not?

Does it affect the outcome of games at all?

That's all I care about.

Media attention is just a sideline show that has no bearing on how the games are played.

My honest opinion? I don't refer to any CB as shutdown.

And I chose this sig for a multitude of reasons. Some of which are posted in this thread. There isn't just one reason for it.

Not sure who hit him and the announcers were debating whether it was a legal hit...at first they didn't think it was and then after some replays they seemed to change their mind.

But do you really expect anything less than Mora? Of course he is going to promote Hall...I expect him too. And his comments have no bearing on the game itself....or the outcome, so I fail to see what's wrong/reason for being upset over it.

I just wish the commentators would be smarter and after saying that, the other one would say, or both, "I dont' know, there's some other fine CBs out there", it's like they just left it at that like it was a fact, but whatever, just wanted to point that out

Ahh, so you ARE a ball-buster.

Sure, there's some collective angst over Newman not getting his league wide share of merited props. But that player's personality, his refusal to chest-thump, his lack of mouth, his professionalism and maturity..it all tells me that while he'd like as much as the next guy to be recognized for his quality work, he's also not about to lose any sleep over it.

To me, he's the defensive version of Terry Glenn. Class all the way..what anyone else says or thinks effects him not.

As for the mediots, if it's not squeaking, boasting, whining, and strutting..it ain't getting noticed.

So the lack of acknowledgment actually proves the theory.

Two players went helmet to helmet with him at the same time. It looked clean enough to me because I don't believe it was intentional. I'm sure the NFL will be sending out notication letters about fines later in the week, though.
