Again i say, what pick did we end up having with Dalton as our QB? and banged up o-line? come on dude, We reshuffled our o-line this year so many times i lost count and still had some success. We both agree that Dak isn't the guy to take us to the top, but i disagree that Dalton/Rush are equal or better than him. Dalton couldn't even beat out Justin Fields or Jameis Winston for QB1 and those guys are worse than Dak.
Somewhere in the middle of the draft like we have been in the past several years. Dalton is at the end of his career, the fact that you think he should be beating anyone is comical. However, his performance is not too far from Dak's if you look at Dalton's 2020 contribution. Dalton went 5-5 as the starter in 2020, extrapolate that to a 16-game season that's 8-8.

Dak is no better than David Carr or Geno; neither the Raiders nor Seahawks wouldn't bet their long-term future on them.

OR replace him and go 5-12 8-9 the next 5-6 years.. you all think replacing dak suddenly the new guy instantly takes us to a NFCCG? a SB you see how many qbs we went thought between Aikman and romo.get real! it could get far worse than making the playoff 4 of 6 years having b2b 12 win season , making the second roun d NO LOSING seasons..right dak sux cut him now i mean the 89mil cap hit means nothing the FT means nothing just change NOW blow it up. lmao., the hate is real the trolling is real. get REAL!
We haven’t even tried drafting a QB in the 1st round in 34 years. I’d rather try than than continue looking for QBs on day 3 or undrafted FAs.

But this reminds me, I need to order my NFC Wildcard Championship T-shirt and cap.

Can someone PLEASE explain to me....I've not seen the explanation anywhere....why we cannot wait until after this coming season to possibly extend??? Is it really so advantageous to rush into it now, and risk making a catastrophic mistake? I'd rather let 2023 play out than free up more cap space to sign another Nolan Carroll.
Dak might pout

Dak currently has the second highest cap hit in the NFL in 2023 and 2024. They either redo Dak's contract or lose some guys to free agency who they want to keep.

I've just accepted they're not giving up on him. They've made that clear with their words, and will soon do it with their actions. It is what it is.

I'm excited about it. I have moved on from this team and I only enjoy watching and reading about them when they fail season after season.

This guarantees 5 more years of failures and entertainment for me.

Yes that is why I still come here, to read the bad news and see all the Dak lovers in misery at the end of each season.

There's a universal acceptance that Dak isnt going to single handedly step up on a consistent basis and so we need the CAP space to aid him through his struggles, especially as he's potentially losing his favorite receiver and there are question marks on the fitness (and durability) of the running game. The only meaningful way of turning around the $7m deficit is by extending Dak.

Totally agree with the..... why extend in 2023 argument and i'd prefer the restructure into bonus allocated into the (for us) healthy $70m CAP in 2024 (and the two void years).

I want to see Dak prove that he's REALLY got leadership qualities, especially that stand out in play-off games when everything around him's going wrong. If he does prove that in 2023, give him what he wants by way of extension, but at the moment that near on-field personal capitulation as soon as Pollard went down, to me says, we are throwing good money (our first out of CAP HELL) after bad.

I read an article on dallascowboys.com for the Cowboys want to build around Dak. “He is a “key foundational piece”

This is exactly where I am with Dak and I've been nothing short of a 150% supporter. I know I have said this before but the 49er playoff game left a scar with me. It wasn't so much his physical play but intangibles I can't shake. Again, just me but I saw a QB who couldn't lead but also didn't wanna lead. This is from a guy who was playing arguably the biggest game of his career.
So for me, let's see how responses ...........

Dak is likely going to become the Garrett (as coach) of QBs. He will say all of the right things and will be here a lot longer than deserved.

:hammer:....totally agree. It's not so much the interceptions (though detractors could argue that that's a symptom of his lack of composure). It's that he failed to lead/manage the team at the time they needed him most (which is the basis of his worth).

We also tend to forget that the season before he had 2:42 on the clock (play-off game vrs 49ers) to win, but that was somewhat overshadowed by the 2nd drive and the 'clock running down incident'.

I think we're less likely to spend and go ALL-IN when there's still a question mark over the QB, it's tantamount on going all-in on a PAIR. Look what the Rams did - ALL-IN, but realized Goff wasnt good enough.

Restructure enough money in 2023 to retain most of the roster and look for the improvement to come from a Dak bounce back. If he succeeds, or the failure isnt due to his lack of composure (when its needed in stressful situations) then go and extend him.

Does Dak ever face accountability?
There seems to be a lot of hand holding. This is possibly a contributory factor in Dak not being able to lead the team in TWO successive games vrs the 49ers (with over 2 mins on the clock).

This is why i'm more in favor of Restructure in 2023 (and let Dak step up to the responsibility and contract). We blame the roster, we blame to play calling, but at some point you want to test drive the car before you spend, especially if that car has repeatedly stalled at the time you need it most.

the problem with this whole thing is that dak isn't gonna get you to the big game, he's an okay qb but that is as far as it goes, i know that every body is expecting him to get better but he just doesn't have that it factor. and they keep expecting that the more good players that they put around him the better he will be that's a DREAM, if he has to have all these weapons around him first of all he's not that championship qb you want so in another 3 0r 4 years after his expect extension you will be where you were this year no where but of course party boy will still be here but dumb jerry will be not probadly

It's my hope that Dak will see fit to accept a more realistic payroll reduction for himself. He should be prepared to accept that reality by now. Perhaps that would serve to allow more funds to be shared by the rest of the team. Many positional improvements await to be resolved.

The key phrase is “there’s not going to be a lot said about it”. That sounds like they’ve lost interest in Dak and more importantly Dak will be replaced.
If Stephen has taken some of Daddy's 'can't lie, have to speak pills', then there is no extension, as that'll involve negotiation. If he's speaking the truth that would indicate that we intend restructuring....as that doesn't effect Dak's actual money, nor needs his permission.
