Yeah, not sure what this is all about. Reports were last year he was in excellent shape.

You' really can't get into football shape without doing legit football drills with a team. At least that's what I've been told for years.

I don't like that people view this as Stephen calling him out. I don't see that at all. He's stating a fact.

Not worried about Dez, worried that our qb dosen't understand that Dez is at his best when he looks like he's covered and he shoudnt be looking him off...just by looking him off you miss out on an easy 30 yard gain.

And then when the ball gets picked off you'll call him an idiot and a choker.

I don't see it as a call out, but I also don't see it as a fact.

He's saying that last year, Dez wasn't in shape because he missed camp. That's certainly what happened.

I don't think he's saying Dez isn't in shape (or getting into shape) currently.

Everything I know about Dez tells me he'll respond to being challenged.

Yeah and you would probably be criticizing Romo when it got picked. Not usually a good decision to throw into coverage. Some of those defenders out there in the NFL are pretty good payers!

No doubt, just think back to the final drive vs the Jets on 9/11/2011.....tie game romo under pressure rolls right thinks dez is going to stop, throws to where he thinks he will be Dez keeps going and revis gets a simple interception to win the game.

fast forward 3 months we lose the Division and miss the playoffs by one game.

Each play is important and you cant just go throwing balls away to anyone who is covered.

Now I will say in one on ones If you can throw a ball up that Dez has to go get he will never be outmuscled or jumped by any defender in the league but that is a much different situation than "just throw the ball to him when he is covered"

I am pretty sure Romo has dez figured out and vice versa.

There goes Ole Erod....who has never met a fact that he'll let get in the way of a good rant.

Dez's production by quarter:

1st Quarter: 86 receptions 1186 yards 15 TDs
2nd Quarter: 113 receptions 1593 yards 14 TDs
3rd Quarter: 94 receptions 1429 yards 10 TDs
4th Quarter: 114 receptions 1529 yards 20 TDs

1st half: 199 receptions 2779 yards 29 TDs
2nd half: 208 receptions 2958 yards 30 TDs

Yes...definitely gassed and an easy cover late in games.

This is embarrassing Erod.

There have been more than a couple of games Dez could not finish because of fatigue and dehydration.

I have presented you with the cold hard facts (34% of Dez's TDs have been in the 4th!) You come back with some weak anecdotes of that time Dez couldn't finish a game? Why not just say "I was wrong?"

Pride?

“He’s done an outstanding job and been committed to being around and I think that’s only getting better. That’s what we need of him, is to get well and do his rehab and then get in great shape,” Jones said. “I think one of the tough things about last year for Dez, he plays with such energy, that with the contract dispute, if you will, he wasn’t around, which is business, and consequently he probably wasn’t in his best shape going into the season and then you start to add the injuries when players aren’t in shape and they continued on through training camp and then on into the season and we ended up not having him much last year, so if he can get his rehab done and get himself in top condition, then I think we’ll see the same Dez that we saw two years ago.”

I find this to be somewhat concerning. He was out of shape and had to go to the locker room week 1 last year against the Giants to get a IV. Came back and ended up getting hurt. Not saying they are connected, but just saying. Fast forward to 9 months later and he is still not in shape?! Hope he's not one of these guys that gets paid and never ends up living up to their potential. Maybe this is a bit of a knee jerk reaction, but it seems like a trend which concerns me.

This has been long discussed in local DFW circles among the media. It's also been mentioned by Garrett, and even Romo. Dez has been asked about it. He dehydrates easily. It's happened in multiple games. In hot, muggy games in the stadium, he's disappeared late in games because of it. I didn't make this up. Other posters here on this forum have heard, seen, and said the same thing.

But no, Toruk, not every single game. Yes, Dez Bryant has caught passes in fourth quarters before. He most certainly has. If that makes you feel like you won your high school debate tournament, then congratulations!
