I have posted before that this is a "myth" that the Pats don't go for it. You can go as far back as the acquisition of Adalius Thomas for the Baltimore Ravens...that was a BIG deal at the time. They have added contreversial players that we would get crucified for touching like Corey Dillion and LeGarette Blount and Chad Johnson and Dontae Stallworth. They have added big money players like Randy Moss and Darell Revis and Aqib Talib. They have paid prime dollars for slot receivers like Danny Amendola. They are paying their often injured TE Gronk a lot of money...instead of making him play for the franchise number Dez is playing for. The same Dez who by the way is rarely hurt. I am sure I am missing some names...but lets not act like the Pats do not swing for the fences when they think they are close. Also, when you have played in and won as many Super Bowls as they have over the last 15 years...you can "afford" to have a little leverage. Romo is in the last quarter of his career...we cannot afford to just be close with the cast of characters we have. We will have to swing for the fences and try to get this done over the next 2 years. Lastly, it helps that they play in the AFC East. They are pretty much GUARANTEED to host a home playoff game playing in that awful division!
