I'll take the win anyday, but they'll have to play better than they have been to go far in the playoffs.

Commanders 23
Jets 3
Packers 27

That's 20 or more points given up in 4 of the last five games. Thankfully the offense has been bailing us out. But it doesn't leave much room for error.

that doesnt neccessarily tell the whole story though.

the lions were the only team to threaten us. the skins had a halftime lead of 3, but other than that we controlled all those games.

And our defense closed out the giants and jets and essentially got the stops on green bay.

oh and did I mention Demarcus Ware was sick yesterday...

I agree Dallas' defense has been very underwhelming when we consider the amount of draft picks and financial resources committed to it.

I don't know what constitutes a dominant defense, but in my opinion, the Cowboys' defense should be comparable to the Colts', especially when we consider the resources committed to the Cowboys' defense--seven first round picks, one second round pick, and a few lucrative free agent contracts.

The Colts rank 3rd in scoring defense, surrendering 16.7 points per game. And similar to the Cowboys, the Colts have surrendered 5 special teams and defensive returns for touchdowns, and they've played New England.

Dallas is currently ranked 16th in scoring defense, surrendering 21.2 points per game.

That's a remarkable disparity between two defenses with comparable talent and situations.

It's not!...Is it better than last year? Probably. But we are an average defense that has looked good because our offense has been top notch. We are a team that is built to stop the run...that was how Parcells and most old school coaches think. Heck Troy Aikman even said the other day "I cringe when I hear coaches say we have to stop the run and run the football" But that is not true of the better teams in the NFL. Favre, Manning, and Brady will light you up if you cannot stop the pass. That should be where our concerns lie. Stop looking at how we perform against teams that will not be playing in January....those 3 teams should be our concern if we our THINKING Super Bowl.

It is ok to be happy with a win....but every fan who voices concern about the defense has a legitimate gripe if you ask me. Fans like me will not be the least bit surprised when if our season ends because of the defense....I guess the rest of you will complain AFTER it happens. But when we get in a single elimination tournament, there will not be any opportunities to "correct it next week"

We are big and slow for the most part on defense...that will need to be corrected this offseason. More speed in the secondary and at interior LBer is needed.

I'm a realist and that's not what we are saying at all. I agree the defense has improved from last season. However, it's another thing entirely to suggest our defense can't be improved or that it's deficient.

Impossible. No such thing as an "Ugly Dallas Fan."

I think this all comes back to the New England game earlier this year and the worries surrounding a possible rematch. Had we not played them, our refrain would be "Yeah, well they're only undefeated 'cause they haven't played us yet!" Green Bay can play the "what if" game but we can't, so we have to seduce ourselves into thinking things will be different in Glendale. Why we would play so much better and they would play so much worse is a mystery, but that will be the narrative of choice leading up to the game. Doesn't mean we can't (or won't) win, but that Pats will be favored for a reason. Nor is it seditious to point out said reasons.

I think you're confusing two different concepts here.

Lack of encouragement is not synonomous with censorship or suppression.

Your right to free to expression does not include a right to congratulatory accolades or pats on the back for a well stated idea, nor does it include a provision protecting you from criticism.

You make valid points, but nothing here equates to censorship or suppression. Can we deem such behavior juvenile or sophmoric? Certainly. But you have the same ability to express yourself that they have.
