I am bumping this thread because it humors me.

On one hand you have a mountain of factual posts and research. On the other hand you have hopes and dreams....

:laugh2:

Thanks for the dismissive attitude.

Thanks for stepping on my hopes and dreams.

You know, not everyone was born with your genius and accumens.
I and others -- with varying degree of cerebral mass -- should be able to keep their hopes and dreams, Mr. Mountain of Factual Posts and Research (MMFPR).

Well, let me tell you something, Mr MFPR, as I think of that great tableaux of Lombardi, Landry, Shula, Brown, Parcells and Madden, perhaps sitting down to a nice plate of rice and beef at Ninfa's, they would tell me and others to keep our hopes and dreams. Keep hope alive, I say, as guaranteed to we fans in the Demarcation of Independence and the Bill of Rights and the Upper Guadalupe River Authority.
No hopes and dreams?

Tell it to the Marines, Mac!

There is no reason to cut him really.

He still has value and perhaps even more if he can be rested.

But if his attitude carries over into his play on the field and his "woe is me" persona trickles down to a young and impressionable roster, I'd rethink the idea.

Probably the most even-handed and reasonable approach.
Good post.

He only has value if he can return to 100% of his preinjury form.

This is a very entertaining post but it reads much more like a daily dose of Dilbert than a football opine. Much more PFT than serious football study.

Fallacies with Greg Ellis:

He didn't live up to top 10 draft status. This has been proven time and again. Ellis was the 3rd DE taken in his own draft and is the only one still playing in the NFL. He owes no apologies for his production.

He makes a chunk?: Ellis makes a pittance by NFL standards much less veteran NFL starter standards. If he broke both legs and some team signed him out of pure compassion they'd pay his almost half his salary on a minimum deal.

Ellis' injury is sooooo serious: Greg Ellis is already running. His injury is serious but it has little chance of ending his career. Greg Ellis is not Kevin Smith. This isn't 1993.

Ellis' production: Greg Ellis can go out and get 5 sacks in 10 games and that is a pretty poor year for him. For the Cowboys that would finish 2nd in sacks almost any previous season.

Wade vs. Parcells/Zimmer: Its funny that all these guys who had less than 3 sacks are going to see marked improvement while the guys who actually get sacks will not. That makes zero sense. If the non-pass rushers are going to get better rushing the passer you better believe the pass rushers are as well.

This is a fine post. What's more, the value in guys like Ellis, who work hard and take care of their bodies comes later in their careers. This isn't a Jose Canseco that you throw away at the first sign of body fat. And it never fails to mystify me that we draft a guy that we know gets sacks on pure effort, and then criticize him constantly because he's not a double digit sack guy.

It's like drafting a 6 7 forward and then constantly criticizing his height.

This place is worse than a flighty woman in a shoe store sometimes.

it's time for ANYONE to step up...

as far as I'm concerned, leadership on this team left with Darren Woodson and hasn't shown up since.

True. I think Romo has leadership quality and potential on offense but the defense is sorely missing leadership. Lot of loudmouths but no real leaders.

Thought Roy might step up but he hasn't. Thought Ware might (and he still may) but he hasn't thus far.

I guess as long as they play to their potential, they can do without a leader. It's during the down times when you really need one. I will say this, the defense could use some more "Haley-like" attitude.
