This is true, auto company's do not want you to repair your own car therefore they make it harder for people to do their own maintenances.....especially when you need their computer system to clear certain codes or run certain test or calibrations...... Our shop rate is $220 an hr, and that's on the low end in the auto mall here.Look at the engine bay of cars from the 60’s, even the huge muscle car engines 440ci, 455, 427, 429 you could see the ground no problem. Today with all of the new advanced tech such as safety devices etc I dare you to say that you can see the ground in any new car engine bay. Every inch of space is maximized to the absolute fullest. Of course it’s harder to work on today’s cars.
Most dealerships do not profit off new car sales(used car different story), Its the repeat service customers with new cars that keep this place afloat.
