Sturm: Dez Bryant running out of time to justify his massive contract

This is true, but it's not how the Cowboys offense works.

Dez scores more than anybody and defenses have to account for him. A lot of guys are overpaid, but Dez is still a great weapon to have. Ironically, if not for Bandino and our weak defense, the two playoff games against Green Bay alone would have improved Dez's reputation greatly.
I agree with you, that's more or less the overall point you cant compare his production to a lot of those guys because the offense is engineered differently. He's never going to be the guy that and regularly gets targets in teens

Dez is largely a product of Tony Romo. He runs three routes and has average speed, but Romo knew how to use it. Those back shoulder throws were indefensible, and Romo knew how to buy time so Dez could run around and freelance. That's gone.

Same can be said for Miles Austin, Laurent Robinson, Terrance Williams, Patrick Crayton, and Sam Hurd. Average dudes who got big paychecks, then went and did absolutely nothing elsewhere without Romo.

Dez is good, but he's not great without Romo. That's proven.

Face-palm all you want, but the family members part is true. Also, what about Dez's spending habits lead you to believe he's saving money? Is it that $60,000 necklace he bought before he even got any rookie money?
For one, football is not his only source of income. As far as the other question, I'm a man. I don't worry about what another man spends his money on, especially one more accomplished than me. You being a 40 something, it's none of your concern what a young man chooses to do with his money.

And they d
Fake news. Dak was 3rd in ANYA

Really? All I read after the draft was how we were going to use the short shifty guys underneath after they drafted Switzer. And here we have an article about Dez not earning his contract. Hmmm.....

I like Sturm, but don't know if I completely agree here; though he is being objective here.

We can get by without Dez and WR isn't all that important to winning.

But the guy is a touchdown machine.
They won all 3 games that he missed in 2016. The offense seemed to flow better in those games than when he returned.

To his defense, he's faced injuries and had a year where his QBs were Weeden/Cassell/Moore. You can argue that Josh Gordon had a monster year on the Browns with a similar awful QB situation. That's true, but Gordon was also their only offensive threat, while Dallas is a run dominant team with four solid receiving threats. All that considered, you can easily make the argument that Dez is just as elite as those other receivers despite not having near the impressive numbers. BUT the important question is, is it worth paying Dez the second biggest WR contract in the league when we've managed quite well without him putting up Julio/Antonio-like numbers?

That looks "great without Romo" to me

Throw him the ball all the time, force it to him , make his numbers go up, not win as many games but everyone will be happy he is living up to his contract I guess and everyone will shut up. Feed the ball to Zeke and spread it around and win games and everyone will complain that Dez is not doing what he is paid.for....

People really suck!

So he only had 3 TDs in the other 14 games? Yay.

And that was against an injury-decimated Packers secondary, a gawd-awful Lions secondary, and an average Bucs secondary.

My profile is fake. I'm neither female or in my 40's.

Dez was a victim of some bad timing with injuries and a rookie QB throwing him the ball,i think he is going to be his old self this season.Usually i agree with Bob but he is wrong here.

1. The original TD # was wrong. He had four receiving TDs total in those three games.
2. He had 2 TDs in the postseason game so he actually had 6 TDs in the "other" games that season.

All I know is that if he's not great this season, I'll betcha they release him.
