we do not even know
those are the key words, we dont know what he has been doing or what kind of shape he is in.
They said he has been working out somewhere.
If he was actually ready to play, I would play him, just in certain situations, or as rotational player.

If you haven't seen that he's missing and being late for meetings missing practices and generally doing his own thing such as reporting overweight and doing drugs, you simply haven't been paying attention. Or, perhaps you choose to ignore it to satisfy your own agenda. Moreover, I seriously doubt he'd report in shape, even if he's permitted to visit the facility. We'll see where this thing leads but I definitely don't share your optimism.

I've seen those issues with him in the offseason, but I don't remember any complaints during the season, which is the only time McClain seems to be motivated. If there are reports of that, I'd love to see them.

However, I just read the other McClain threat where Jerry says he's in shape but there are other reasons for putting off his return a little longer. I'm not for this being complicated. If he's ready to come in and help the team, then let's do it. If he isn't, then get rid of him.

Are you kidding? There is plenty that suggests he doesn't like or want to practice. Goes and takes long bathroom breaks etc.

He does not fit the culture that is being sold right now. At all.

Again, I ask what evidence is there that he avoids practicing during the season and doesn't work to get ready for games. Everything I've ever read about him during the season is great. During the offseason and preseason, everything is the opposite of that.

With the way this team is winning right now, and how close they seem to have gotten, the last thing I want is Rolando "Donkey Brains" McClain coming in and screwing up the mojo.

I'm not saying Jerry was not on board with the Martin pick but Jerry was also gushing over Johnny football before and after the draft. Makes you think that had others not been involved in the process and Jerry was making moves on his own what the likelihood of Manziel being drafted by the Cowboys would have been?
I see what you're saying...can't disagree. Thankfully, it's a group effort!

I guess you missed the reports that came out during the season that dealt with his constant transgressions. If you're somehow able to find them at this point in time, then godspeed in doing so. I won't waste my time looking for what I already know to be true.

Regardless, It's out of our hands whether or not Jerry chooses to ignore his past failings. We'll see what develops. Good luck to us all. ;)

I think the key ingredient in any "dedication" or "commitment" is time. Without time, it's just hollow words, signifying nothing.

The only way to show either dedication or commitment is with the passage of time.
Very true. I don't think he has likely been dedicate to mch of anything in his life. I would love to see him just get his life in order, never mind the football aspect of it.

If Jason does not want McClain in his lockeroom...he should have the right to make that call. Especially when we are 8-1 with the "type" of guys Jason prefers. And trust me...I was upset that Jason did not know how to "coach" the Greg Hardy's, Christine Michael's, Roloando McClain's, Randy Gregory's of the world...but the Cowboys are currently a top 3 team in the NFL...with the kind of players Jason prefers...so I think he has EARNED the right to make that call.
I, too, would hope that JJ would not force a player down th coach's throat, and in the case of JG, I don't think he would. I also agree that JG has earned the right to make the call, but I simply don't know that to be the case (or not).

Post of the day.

I think the 8-1 record has everything to do with him putting the drink aside and shaking his *** to get into shape.

That would certainly be one way to see it. Needing the money when he's possibly running woefully short is quite possible as well.

In any case, Jerry, the staff and the team may see what he has to offer in the days ahead. Here's hoping it all works out tolerably.

Hilarious for those touting the chemistry of this team and the new infusion of energy with the rooks only to consider bringing back into the fold a soggy tired sack of old "need football again to pay for my bills" cowboy waste of time. As stated perfectly earlier flush this turd. Like yesterday!

without a doubt, imo, jeri is an empty chair of a GM and wouldn't be missed if he never attended another draft

They may but if his head is not in this and this is just about making some cash then I hope the Cowboys send him packing. This team has worked to hard to allow some idiot to disrupt things. If he is not committed then there should be no room on this team for him.

...but questions about what kind of shape he is in and how such a move would affect team chemistry cloud the chances of a reunion. ....

McClain never reported to training camp and hasn't been working out at team headquarters during his suspension.

What I wanted to hear was, "McClain expressed deep regret at how he's hurt his team and has been working out regularly at team headquarters to prove he's ready to play when his suspension is up."

If he's somehow in great shape, I would be okay with giving him a shot as a rotation guy, but those quotes don't sound promising. If he's out of shape, **** him. He's had all this time off to work out and get in the best shape possible without having to take hits on the field.

I know the defense could use the help but good riddance. This guy does whatever he wants. So now he wants to play again for the 8th time now. Just shutup. I'm so sick of him. Go hang out with Gregory
